Flight Delayed

In 1999 I was travelling from Denmark to Estonia and I had to wait many, many hours at the airport in Copenhagen because there was a hurricane and it was impossible for the plane to leave the airport on time. It wasn't a direct flight, I went from Copenhagen to Finland and from Finland to Estonia. When I finally arrived in Finland I discovered that the next plane was delayed as well and I wasn't to leave Finland till late at night. Someone had to pick up me in Tallinn in Estonia. I wasn't able to get in touch with him and I was worried because I didn't have a place to spend the night in Tallinn and I had never been there before. I called my parents in Denmark from the airport and asked them to call the the man who was supposed to pick me up as I couldn't get in touch with him when I called from Finland. Fortuneately they got in touch with him and they told him that I would arrive much later than planned.

I have had plenty of experience of flight delay. When I was going to St Lucia Customs did a detailed search of the plane. It made it four hours late and I don't think they found anything to worry them. Another time I had a 7 hour wait at Nairobi Airport. That was boring and uncomfortable. I had flown from the Seychelles to Nairobi then had to hang around for many hours waiting to fly back to London. When my disabled son was 20 months old our flight from London to Cape Town was delayed by 5 hours due to fog. We had that again this year when we sat on the plane for 2 hours before it departed. In Madrid we had missed our connecting flight to Bogota. Luckily another plane took us and we arrived close to midnight. We missed our flight on to Cartagena De Indias. We stayed overnight then flew on the next day. That had been an exhausting trip.

It seems that just about every day there will be some sort of delay at the airport. I think it's mostly because of the weather in different areas. The most time delay I had to experience so far is an hour of sitting on the plane. Apparently there was a door handle issue.

I don't have any experience in traveling by plane. I just don't go out of the country or the region where I'm at, but I know how you feel. I was a reservations agent in a call center before for an airlines in US. There are some reasons that some flights are delayed that the airlines can't control. It can be technical issue or it can be the weather from the previous location and other things. Airline companies would like to make sure that the plane is in good condition and the weather is good as well even if there's rain or snow storms. They can cancel or delay some flights if needed for the security of the passengers or else there could be some problems that will cause plane crash.

I definitely hate it when flights are delayed. Most airports are not that huge and we can finish walking their shops in like an hour or less. more than 9 hours!!! During that 9 hours are you stucked at the airport or you were allowed to go out of the airport and check in after that? It's really horrible to face a delayed flight because plans will be spoiled and the holiday is spoiled just because the flight is delayed.

It never happened to me since I have only one time flight exprience.

hello alokijon i tried having a delayed flight when i was on my way going back to my country , when we were suppose to take off , the plane cannot take off because of the heavy rain , so the pilot just announced that we will have some delay so what i do is tried to sleep , because i fill bored i cannot play my lap top / cellphone, cannot hear some music , watch movie , play ipod and many more precautions when trying to take off so i tried sleeping even though i am not that comfortable after 3 hours the plane take off and yes i am delayed when i arrived at our airport.
