When you answer yes to these questions then it is time to put up the tree...
1. Can you absolutely, positively not stand to hear your children asking "When are we going to put up our tree?" one more time?
2. Are you aware that since your husband will most likely not be home for x-mas that you and only you must assume his Christmas duties?
3. And you are up for tromping through the woods, aware that the orange vest you are wearing may not~actually~ keep you from being shot by a hunter on your own property?
4. Can you find the dang hacksaw? Or any saw?
5. Do you have a cell phone to carry into the woods to call your husband when you cannot remember where evergreen the trees grow near your house?
6. Do you have a dog to go with you, so that when you get lost, the dog can help you home (so you do not bug your husband yet again)? Or at least the dog can look sorrowful for you, if you are indeed lost? (Note: hounds are good for this)
7. Once home, can you remember which box the ornaments are stored in in the basement from hell, and whether your husband out the lights up or threw them out to start again next year and if your youngest is allergic to pine trees or firs???
When I answer yes to these questions - then it is the right time to put that sucker UP!

We usually put up the tree on thanksgiving day or the day after. This year it was the day after since we were gone most of Thanksgiving day. To each their own I say.

I usually make it by the 15th of December. Last year I did it 2 days before Christmas. I was working all days, 14 hours. No time to do it sooner.

Normally, I spend the day after Thanksgiving decorating for Christmas, but this year I decided to do it this weekend. This is my favorite time of year and I decided to enjoy all of the decorations a week longer this time.

Our middle daughter's birthday is Dec 12, so we always waited until after her birthday to put it up when she was growing up. That way it seperated her birthday from the christmas season. Now that she's grown up and moved out, we put it up after the first of December.

I think that the best time to put up the tree is either the day after Thanksgiving or that Saturday after.
