How LED is better than LCD ?

what are these technologies, i really don't have any idea. I was supposed that LCD is the highest and best image resolving technology but now a days LED is becoming more and more fascinating. How does really LED is better than LCD ?? what are the concept used, do anyone have idea then please let me know that how these stuff works.

The main characteristic that differs between the two kinds of monitors is contrast. An LCD TV can offer something around 10,000:1, while LED TVs will reach Millions:1. I really do not know if this difference is visually seen and sensed, but since LED are more modern than LCDs I would surely opt to choose an LED, since I suspect they will last for longer, from the technological aspect. well, that is so big difference. but can you explain me for what does these quantities stands for on left and right of the : mark.

First, LED is lighter and it won't use up big rooms as well as LCD. Second, LED uses less electricity whereas LCD will costs a higher electricity. Third, it seems that there are more radiations from LCD rather than LED. I love China

does LCD really radiates harmful ray's, i wasn't considered that before.

LED TV can be LCD screen with LED back-light or organic LED (OLED) display. LED TVs are considered better primarily because of the infinite contrast it can deliver. LCDs are known for less contrast, specially the dark contrast of (even modern day models) LCD is pretty low. Another advantage is power consumption, LEDs are less consuming compared to LCD. Then comes the issue of radiation: Even though both LCD and LED tvs are not known for emitting harmful radiations, LED TVs have a slight edge - of being the kind of display with least radiation. At present the only advantage that the LCD TV has is its price (which is very less compared to an LED TV with equivalent performance and size).
