Is M S Dhoni the best captain ever?

Dhoni is the greatest captain India has ever produced. He has won the T20 world cup, One Day International World Cup, taken India to number 1 spot in the Test rankings, lifted the IPL trophy twice in succession. He has actually done it all. So he can surely be called the greates captain that India has produced. But is he the best in the world?

Yes i would say Dhoni is one of the best if not best captain India has had in history under his captaincy India has done great job . But he is also been lucky to lead a very strong team Indian team is probably the best it ever has been and his IPL team Chennai super king has had continuity in its players staff which has helped him a lot
but credit should given to Dhoni aswell for leading it

well they have changed a few atleast but thier captain Sachin is not very good with his captaincy and Chennai have a better settled team
Mumbai batting line up wasn't settled they struggling to find a good opener to partner sachin
And as I said i believe Dhoni is India best captain but only luxury he had was good team but you have still lead well , i think in IPL even Shane Warne was goood but he didn't have good team

If you talk about continuity, MI has had the best continuity and look at the amaxing batting line-up they bostof. Also potential match winning bowlers like Malinga and Harbhajan. But they always falter somewhere down the line. Tendulkar has never managed to be a good captain whether it is for India or MI.

Hi Amit,
Indeed MS Dhoni is the best captain India has ever produced.. He made India T20 world cup leader in 2009, provide A finest World Cup win after a long 28 years wait and not even this the Chennai Super Kings have become the IPL champion Twice in a row in his awesome captaincy .. Wat more is needed from a best captain.. and he has done it wen he has still got a lots of time to play for India.. So it obvious that many more of Dhoni's performance has yet to be seen.. :)

Absolutely agree with the pank....He has proven himself as a winner and as a leader.. He leads from the front and has brought glory to Indian Cricket and also the million fans.. Captain Cool defirnately suites him and as pank said that he is still young with a lot of cricket left in him...He will definately go ahead and achieve a lot in life....good luck to Team India.....

Dhoni is the best Indian captain next only to Kapil Dev, during his captaincy only India got world cup for the first time. Now every thing else is after that only.
In the world -- I can't say. some will say yes and some will say no.For me No let him prove still further.

Before Dhoni India has had a few great captains like Pataudi, Ganguly, Kapil Dev and Gavaskar. But performance wise Dhoni has done better than all of them. Temperamentally he is the best, no doubt about that. He believes in leading from the front and is always decisive. he is ready to accept his mistakes and has always stood by his team with the exception of the eccentric Sreesanth.
Among the current lot on the the international scene he is ahead of the others by quite some distance.
He is simple and so are his methods. He doesn't get disturbed easily and is not critical of mistakes on field. The players have felt the happiness and relaxation even in tense situations. He is not tactically great but refuses to give up and is ready to move on once the game is over. He is not one to linger in defeat or feel too excited by a win.

oh yes he is probably best captain ever played cricket after mike brealy of england. unlike the former england captain dhoni is bit of a gambler and street smart captain and probably the coolest of the lot who has very uncluttered mind when he approaches any crucial situation. trust me he will be the next big thing after sachin tendulkar in the indian cricket today. there was time when the indian team is selected with sachin already in the team selection now it will sachin and dhoni already in the team and rest will be selected on the merit. so thats the kind of image that dhoni has created in the minds of the many bcci members as well you bet..

I guess he is shapeing to be the best captain....He has amazing leadership qualities and also he is very cool..I have never seen him lose his cool on the field..He keeps thinking and also he has a bunch of wonderful players to back him.. And when has Dhoni not delivered..take the world cup finals..wickets falling and then the captain decides its up to him to deliver and he did that STAND AND DELIVER..he certainly will one day be the best captain in cricket.....
