Ever since my injury over 4 years ago, I haven't been able to get a good nights rest. Sometimes im up for 36 hours straight. Sleep meds don't work, nothing does. Im never in bed earlier than 4a.m(pst). Is this something I should get checked out? Is it stress keeping me awake, insomnia, the pain from my injury? Im not sure what to do. I guess it doesn't bother me cause im use to it. But it can't be healthy right?

Wow, if even sleeping medications can't help put you to sleep, I think this is indeed grounds to get it checked out. I mean, your sleeplessness could be due to a myriad of reasons; for example, pain, anxiety, depression (not implying that you actually have any of these but just suggesting possibilities). Not really sure how you got your injury, but if it was like an accident or something, some people might actually experience post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Anyway, do check with a doctor or a specialist to find out what is going on, and maybe something like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) could help you to sleep better. Hope you get to sleep well soon!

I injured my neck and shoulder and the neck damage resulted in cervical osteoarthritis, a damaged nerve, bulging disk and degenerative disk so its alot of pain im in constantly. Being in all that pain I do drift of in depression sometimes because im so disgusted with the pain and not being able to function like I use to so it could be a combination of things. I will consult my Dr and be more forceful this time. Thank you for your input
