Mine has. When I was little I used to love sweets and was not specially interested in salty or spicy food, except for a few dishes my grandmother made.
Now I am much more interested in cheeses, hams, a lot of snacks I should eat if I don´t want to weigh more. Could it be that we want always what is forbidden? I stopped making cakes and the like when my husband had serious diabetic problems. I thought that after he died I would make lots of cakes again but it seems my taste buds have changed and I´m not interested in them anymore.
What is your experience? Have your food cravings and likings changed with time? Share!

I hated my veggies when I was a kid but what kids doesn't? I also didn't like silverside/corned beef but now I absolutely love it! I had it for dinner last night & it was great! I eat a heap more veggies & love them now that I'm older too.

I love veggies now, and meat, and you name it... When I was a child my mom had to heat my plate several times. I did not have that patience with my own children but it seems that children don´t like a lot of diferent foods.

I know what you mean. Even though I´m addicted to chocolate, I´m on bitter chocolate now and can´t eat white chocolate as it´s too sweet.

Sister
I was and am so fond of spicy, deep fried foods, sweets, non veg items, but at 65 things have changed a lot, these days i eat food with much less spices, oils, intake of sweets is almost zero, and non-vegs may be once in a month lol..
Why eat and suffer, i have diabetes..
Thanks for sharing
God bless you, have a nice day ahead.

marguicha for me as a diabetid now the sweet stuff really does taste
'sickeningly sweet just as if its overdone. I have fou nd that life is '
more my wish than stuffing on forbidden and too sweet stuff that will make me horribly ill. I think maybe our body changes to accommodate our search for good healthy foods. I have high blood pressure so am not to eat salt and foods with salt in them now taste too salty to me. lol i still love lays potato chips but I bu the baked ones that have very little salt in them.they are lower in calories and oil too and do taste great to me.So I have change my food habits in some good ways too.

Mom
Some times i feel so sad, how long keep controlling?
This morning I ate 2 Indian sweets, my daughter in law brought ,she returned from attending wedding ceremony of her brother
But the entire noon, my soles were burning, as if i was walking over fire.

When I was little I didn't like too many things, I eat just some chicken and cheese and not too many different things... but with time I started to like more and more things, but now I'm not fan of chicken anymore I prefer red meat :)
Sorry to hear about your husband...

Taste buds definitely change over time, children are unable to digest certain foods, so the body naturally rejects these foods until it is ready to handle them. After being vegetarian for a while, I now find even the idea of meat turns my stomach, but love sweets and cakes more than I ever did as a child. Food cravings change due to my level of tiredness as well, if i'm exhausted, it's all about the carbs, if i'm feeling energised, then a salad is what I crave.

I have a vegetarian friend who cannot even stand the sight of raw meat. So I invite her and her hubby for dinner and make her vegetarian food and he has the pleasure of eating meat for once. Today, I have two friends for lunch today: one is a vegetarian who eats seafood and the other has diabetes. I´ll have to think hard.

Hi, marguicha.....I didn't eat many sweets as I was growing up. They weren't much allowed. So most of my adult life, I ate what was good for me. Over the past five years or so I've developed cravings for cakes, pies, brownies and all kinds of sweets. I buy Tootsie Roll Pops by the bags and I love the candy butterscotch discs. I bake a lot of the sweets that I like and am gaining a bit of weight. I can't afford a new wardrobe so I'm going to have to cut down on the cakes and such. After I make a poppy seed cake tonight that I just got a new recipe for.

I still love my favourites from childhood I call comfort foods such as pasta with butter and parmesan cheese as well as sweet biscuits in hot milk. When I was a child I was not a fan of chocolate, believe it or not. Back then when I could have eaten a ton without gaining any weight I used to refuse it and now that I love it I have to limit myself...Not fair...

Same here.It seems we change as we get older.I used to love the sweets and still make them for certain occasions. But I don't eat as much of them as I used to.And vegetables,no way when I was a kid was I gonna eat them. Now,That's all I eat.I actually planted a garden for the first time this year.My granddaughters are waiting for the tomatoes, cucumbers, corn and the melons. They said they were not eating any squash, peppers,or onions. We sometimes make a meal out of peppers and onions.

I am also much more into vegetable soups than before. I think I started to like soups quite late in my life. Now I love them and I´m always discovering new soups.

I remember never eating my vegetables and hating the taste of it a lot. I seem to eat it pretty well these days and the taste don't bother me too, actually I love the taste these days . As a kid, I always loved candies and sweet stuffs. I do eat them these days but I don't seem to crave them and I'm ok if I don't get one for a long time too!! The only food I have hated and still do are mushrooms. I still don't understand why I never liked the taste of it!!!

I think veggies have changed since my childhood days. Not the veggies, but the way we cook them. I was given overcooked veggies when I was a hild. Now I stir fry or steam them so they are al dente. Even the spices and herbs are different. Soy sauce was not part of my grandma´s cooking helpers.

Yes, my interest too has changed for quite a few dishes. In my childhood days I used to dislike lot of vegetables, yogurt etc. But now they have become part of my daily intake. I think our taste buds also gain knowledge with age and start acting according to what is good and what is bad for our health. Earlier I used to avoid most of the green vegetables now I like them the most.

Yes, I have had some interests in food change for me. Before I got pregnant I used to love cottage cheese with fruit. Now I can't eat cottage cheese at all cause it just makes me want to get sick. I can't stand it now for some reason. And while I was pregnant I could not eat pizza cause it would make me sick everytime. I can eat it now but don't eat it very often.

Pregnancy is one of the times in life where you experience more changes in eating habits. But many of those changes disappear when you have the baby.

yeah, i am more interested to eat spicy food and sometimes sweet, sour and spicy combines. it is appetizing and makes me eat more. though some say spicy food is bad when consume too much but only in moderation. i also like marinated food when the taste seep through the meat especially of chicken , fish and beef then combine with different mixture of herbs makes the food more delicious.

Hi marguicha
I have found that in the last few years I am more into the lighter side and easy meals more so now then ever before. I am an old fashion Puerto Rican food cook, though I love it still, just not so into how heavy and the various many left overs that always arises from cooking them these days.
I have not been much of a dessert eater and still to date not really into them so much.

When i was younger, i love eating raw mangoes and would dip them in salty sauce before i chew on them. But now that i am older, i prefer eating them ripe.
In addition, when i was younger , i don't like to eat vegetables. But after i have given birth to our only child, i cannot eat my lunch and dinner, without a vegetable as side dish. Whenever there is no available cooked vegetable, i would make any vegetable salad to go with my dish.
