I receive my bill statement from my personal loan, and credit card today, and I am glad that with my restrictive spending behavior over the past couple of months, it actually work. I am glad that my balance is significantly down month by month. By working harder, and less spend, I might get rid of my debt pretty soon. And I keep working here on mylot and other websites to make extra money. I should be okay for while. I just need to discipline myself on every aspect of daily life, restrict myself and hold myself down on any spending. That is my goal. I have to get rid of debt as soon as possible.

Yes, paying your debts should be given attention, lest its interest will accumulate and catch up on you.
Focus on just living within your means and paying those debts. Religiously paying them, will someday make you debt-free. From there , you must stick to living within your means.

That is wonderful. That is what we are doing also with our debts. We are paying more on them so we can get them paid off faster.

I just need to take care of them. I felt so behind, since my cousin already bought a house of his own. For me, I had own nothing, only debt. I felt shame on myself.

Our goal is also to get out of debt as soon as possible. Ever since my husband and I have been together, we've been in debt of some form or another. However, about a year and a half ago the two of us decided that we were tired of being in debt to people, so we started working on getting out of debt through a debt management plan. If we don't pay a penny extra, we will be paying for another 22 months. However, we would like to pay it off in full ten months from now. We will see how that goes.

hi kingparker good for you as now you will not be in the horrid mess I was in not over fifteen years back. I had three credit cards, Sears, Mervys and JCP ennys and allof a sudden I was in debt over my head and at first I had been so careful to always keep paid up ion fu ll then our county when bankrupt and as i was a county employee working for the orange county library system my hours were cut back hence less salary hence i started not paying all on my sears account, still keeping pretty much caught up on Jcpennys and Mervin till I got a consolidating company to help me out as they could get the stores to cut their interest down and help me to pay off my Merwyn and Penny and sears account but sadly Sears refused to cut the interest thus no matter how hard i tried to pay down the principal for several years my money did not show on the principal at all and it just grew. finally the years past and the bill was outlawed but I did get the Mervin and the jc penny'es bills paid off.,now had i done as you are I co ld have got out of debt completely. now I do not have any credit cards only my debit c ard which is always paid up of course as I do not use it unless I have money in the bank to cover it.You are going the right directions and sooner than you think y ou will be out of debt completely.

Good to know you are disciplining yourself about money. Many of us fail to do that at some point in life.
Get out of debt as quick as possible. This economy might turn bad and then it will be difficult to pay debt.Have you seen news about usa debt.Looks like difficult time is ahead.

I am glad that you are starting to pay down your debt. I bet it feels good to pay it down. I hope to start paying mine down soon. I have a credit card that I need to pay down. I have not been able to find work and since I live in the country there are not a lot of jobs available. I am looking for ways to make extra money myself. I hope to make money soon so I can decrease my debt.

Good for you! Seeing that your balance is down only means that you're on the right track. We pretty much have the same attitude towards debt, I tighten my belt and work harder whenever I owe anybody or an institution money. I'm so happy for you, hope you get out of debt soon.

Congratulations. You certainly have the right attitude. Paying off debt and staying out of debt is a habit everyone needs. So many problems in life and so many arguments in marriages are caused by debt. Once you understand the value of being debt feel, and once you reach the stage of being debt free you will be a happier person with less problems. Then you can focus on others issues...

That's really good to hear that you put restrictions of how to spend and to yourself.I'm really glad that you made it as most people don't and actually run.My mom do have still big loan to pay almost unbelievable loan balance and now we are having difficulties to recover.I myself put restrictions now but good thing is paid the rent as well the bill.the only thing I need to work hard now is for my internet connection.Your right,we should have goal and getting rid of debt is just as good as any other idea that's why I love cash on cash and I don't even have credit card.Just debit card so I can get my salary.

I have paid off two bills in the last month and refuse to use the credit from them any longer.
I am now headed to pay off a credit card. I took all my credit cards out of my purse and put them in my locked jewelry box.
So if the money is not in my checking account I cannot impulse buy. Not that I impulse spend except on grandchildren and adult children!
I finally cut the apron strings tuesday and I am done aiding my adult kids.
They have not appreciated what I have done, and only come back for more so now I am going to pay off my bills and enjoy some of what life I have left.
Good Luck to you too! from reading the responses, looks like we are all doing the same thing paying off our bills so we can survive!

It's good to see how the debts is getting smaller. Yes, determination and discipline are good characters for reaching goals. i'm myself working on to lower my debts, after I was so naive and believed in a man( a scammer) I put myself in debts. He told me opportunities, which sounded realistic. But he fooled me. So I have a bank loan as a reminder of the scammer. It is easy to put oneself into debts, when you think if you pay this you can get that.
