There are those stands for laptop that include fans and are powered through USB. There are however a couple of problems:
The fans usually target the bottom of the laptop, where most laptops do not have cooling slots (why would they? How could air go in there and cool the components, since it is the bottom of laptop where it sits on table etc).
Second problem is that they will consume some more battery, so they are not advised for when you are running off mains electricity.
My advice is never cover the side slots of the laptop from where it gets cool air. It is easy to cover them accidentally when you keep it at your lap, so watch out.

Hi. demoneko. Right now, I am using an old baby cotton burping cloth. I have my laptop on top of this cloth. It keeps the heat from touching my kitchen table cloth. It really works, being that, this is cotton and it is strong enough to absorb any heat that comes from the back of this laptop. I know that it may seem kind of old fashioned, but, it works well for me.

first i put my laptop on a tray that has holes under it so the heat will vent thru them. then i also use a cooling pad to better exhaust the heat. and if you dont have airconditioning, putting a fan infront of you laptop is a good way to help
