I saw that there was a whole show trying to find the Real face of Jesus. I must confess I am puzzled. why are they searching this out? Why is this so important. I am not Christian So I guess I can't totally understand. From looking in, I Thought it was The Word that really mattered. is it that many Have to have proof? Your thoughts.

I am a christian and i am pretty confused about it too. I believe that faith guides us. Unfortunately, many people want to see, have to see to believe. I guess that they think if they put a face on the man who has been so significant in religion today, they will be able to believe in a fact, not by faith. it is always good to search for answers to seemably unsolvable questions. The question is, will their faith be strengthened only once they put an actual face to Jesus.

Sadly I think the answer is yes. They have to have proof before they can truly believe.

I think that is the very essence of being a Christian. To have faith and believe even on something you don't see. So, I don't understand why would people be looking for his face.
Maybe to convince the other half that don't believe that he really does exists? But that defeats the purpose!

Sarah You know your Judaism. You know why people moved away from monotheism to christianity. They needed a physical god. It is very difficult to follow an invisible G'd. Look how many times the Jews backslid before they were able to handle the concept. The followers of the christ figure were looking for a tangible god and found one in him. His followers today still need that 'tangible' proof of his existence, thus they really need to know what he looks like. Why do you think christians always have so many pictures and crucifixes and statues around them? They need to see and touch their god, and saints etc.

And the concept of being able to touch a G-d puzzles me. I was raised by an Agnostic. As I child I celebrated Christmas but I Never expected to see Him! I have always thought that G-d is way too busy and I wouldn't handle an audience. Fast forward about a decade and I Learn that Jews Believe the same thing! so I was Jewish Without knowing it?! Thanks for your response. It clears it up for me And is another reason I do not want to be a Christian. Now when kind soul asks me 'don't you want to see Jesus? I can say No thanks!

That may be true for some denominations, but there are those of us who are content with knowing that Jesus was the sacrificial lamb of God who took away the sins of the world. What He looks like makes little difference.

nothing will be changed if ever they see what was Jesus look like before, but all things will be change if they will ever see Him now sitting in the right side of God's throne, including your life and destiny,:)

I am a Christian, but as far as I am concerned, there were no photographers around at the time of Jesus, so how are they ever going to find this out? Doesn't matter to me. Jesus is Jesus, regardless of how the world thinks he looks. Maybe his appearance was meant to remain a mystery, to prove to the world that appearance really doesn't matter.

Jesus is usually painted as a British man. However, He was Jewish and has an olive skin. It does matter that He is painted Jewish because there is a rising antisemitism even in the Churches today. People need to remember that Jesus was Jewish and not a white, English man.

I can appreciate that. I wonder how many would leave the Church Just because Jesus was Jewish?

Actually instead of trying to find the real face of Jesus they should just rather seek Him. No one in this modern world has really ever seen the face of Jesus so it is useless to try finding His real face. And even if they were able to figure out a face which they believe could belong to Jesus, what benefit does it bring them? The best thing to do is to seek Jesus with all our heart, experience His saving power and live a new life with Him. Only there and then would be be assured of the fact that someday soon, we will be able to meet Jesus face to face. Just what I did. Some thirty years ago ,I sought Jesus and so since then I have been experiencing His saving power. He is now living in my life and now I have the glorious hope that I will meet Him one day soon. Someday when the silver cord has broken, then my Savior will open the gate of heaven for me and my soul to Him shall experience rest. There and then will I see my Savior's face to face... ever shining and ever so beautiful. I'd then embrace Him and thank Him for His wonderful love ... for what He did for me at Calvary and for everything He did for me. We will talk about the story "Saved by Grace" there in heaven, a place where is no more tears, no more pain, no more sorrow... there I'd live a life perfect and eternal together with my fellow believers in Christ.

I think it would give people "proof" per say if they knew what he really looked like. There has been a lot of argument about the hair and the beard and the way that Jesus has been represented in pictures. His color has been an argument too. It should be the word that matters.

They are probaly doing this because all the pictures of Jesus Christ are of a white caucasian male. Of course he wasn't! Jesus Christ was from the middle east! He would be darker like the people who live there now! They want to prove Jesus was not what we grew up to believe. To me it makes no difference!

I saw that also and I also don't know what they need to know that for. Maybe they want to see of he looked like BinLaden. LOL. No, really. I don't think that matters. I was raised as a catholic and since I went to catholic school, I can not trust those people. I mean, how do you trust and respect a person, Nun, who punches kids in the face and berates them. Then there are those, priests, child molesters. I really do not care.

I can understand. If A nun hit me I would have nothing but hatred for the Church. This is why I respect Catholics. No way could I be one!
