I am planning on starting up a small gift basketing business. I have almost everything in mind however I'm having a bit of trouble thinking of the different baskets I would like to present. So I was wondering if some of you could give some suggestions as to what type of baskets would be good to market. Type, its contents and pricing if you could. This would be very helpful :)

I'm thinking an aroma therapy basket, with bath salts, candles, scrubbies, would be nice. Also, what about a romance basket, perhaps with some bubbly, chocolates and candles? During the seasons associated, of course holidays, graduation, baby showers, weddings. What about a Thinking of you basket, or a Get Well Soon basket even? Prices, well, I don't know about that. Just thing about the things you would like to receive in a given basket. Ask your friends also.

What a great business to start! The other responders had some great ideas to create gift baskets for, but what about a teacher's basket? Teachers a lot of times receive numerous coffee mugs or other items you can only use so many of. Teachers also spend a lot of their own money on school supplies due to budgets being cut. A basket of school supplies, depending on the grade the teacher teaches, would be great. Some ideas to put in a basket: pencils, glue sticks, markers, crayons, computer paper, books, post-it notes, pens, a coffee shop gift card, and chocolate. Most teachers like chocolate. You could buy a lot of this stuff before schools start to get the best deals. But use your imagination...the possibilities are endless. Good luck on your business!

That sounds like a great idea. There's lots of events that a gift basket would be good for. Take a look at the card section in almost any store, and you can get a good idea of the types of things people celebrate. If it's worthy of Hallmark making a card for it, then quite often a present goes with it. (Mother's day, baby, wedding, showers, retirement, etc.) Here's a couple of good links to give you some idea of contents, and pricing. By seeing what others have found successful might help. The second one is a page for people interested in making gift baskets, kind of a how-to, thought it might help some.

What a great idea! I would suggest googling gift baskets. You will see what other people around the country do, how they price etc. I would make a good range of prices to fit any budget. like $10 and up. It is hard to say, it depends on where you are and what prices are like there. Good luck to you!

Dear friend,
I feel if you are talented in making baskets, the next steps would be knowng the business tricks. I feel if you have a good business nack the rest is easy. Moreover a market study or analysing of the product in present is also should be know so that the price and other benefiting aspects can be put well.

Well it seems like 2011 is the year to have babies...so a nice "baby boy" and "baby girl" theme(with onesies, wipes, bottles etc) would be nice. A "I love you just because" theme(with heart shaped items like mini pillows, candles, candy etc), a "chocolate lovers" theme(of course with chocolate, any kind of chocolate), an "aromatherapy" theme(with lavendar epsome salt, bath beads, scented candles, relaxing cd etc). Now the prices would be up to your discretion because it depends how much it cost you to buy the items for the baskets
