The City Hall of Manila is now cutting the internet access of their employees except department heads and public information personnel and electronic processing unit emplyees. Other employees can only access the internet if they will ask permission from their heads. This is for the purpose of ensuring efficiency and professionalism from the government employees.
I believe this is a good move by the city mayor.
What do you think?

Hi dorisday1971!
This is a good idea. I am 100% in favor of this. One of the offices I would not really go to unless it is very important is any of the government agencies here in the Philippines. For one, they are very inefficient and there are times when they are unprofessional with the way they deal with their clients. Many of them spend so much time updating their status on FB or even playing their favorite games in that website that they do not want being disturbed. They get irritated when they are so into whatever they are doing online and there you go calling their attention so that you get served.
If only more leaders exercise their political will like Mayor Lim...

I think it is good. We are allowed to access the internet at work, but not networking sites. Like I can access my emails and my school website..I can also check my bank account..which there is noway I will do anymore.
I think that limitations are a good thing and there will be more attention on responsibilities that people are being paid for.

this is definitely a good thing. facebook or internet during work hours will make people work less and surf the net more. cutting the internet access will make the employees focus more on the things they are supposed to do. whether it be a private company or the government, people are relying on these employees to work their butts off. maybe this will help people be less dependent on the internet.

hi dorisday! this one is really nice i agree of this so that they have a nice and fast transaction with other people , to have a good transaction as well, because sometimes the employee prioritize there internet rather than the people who needs help, it is much more better if they will do this not only in manila but the whole Philippines it is much more better.

I think it's a good thing to do. How can the employees do their jobs if they keep logging onto their Facebook accounts? For them to be efficient and productive on their jobs they need to focus on their jobs. I just hope the Dept Head make themselves an example to their employees by following the rules and not using their internet connections on other things that are not work related.

Hi Dorisday,
I think this is a good move from the government, and I hope it will be implemented not only in Metro Manila (as I've heard Quezon City and other cities are also implementing it) but nationwide. All employees, government and private, shouldn't be doing Facebook or playing computer games while at work.

Hello Dorisday,
What can you expect from our OLD DIRTY HARRY MAYOR LIM same vigilance as always. am not really surprised though because it cost a lot of money using these computers in teh CITY hall. not to mention there's a lot to do when it comes a executive duties. i think this is wise, i mean, before internet people werejust as active and used to it. but most people have been dependent on technology, more likely social networking like Facebook

Good. I think it is best so that people can have good service from those who work at the city hall. After all, we deserve some good services as our taxes pay for their salary.

I will endorse this view. If the employees behave maturedly then may be Mayor may relax this norm. This is similar to software companies where u cannot access your personal email etc. during office hours. blocked. have a good day.
