Why Facebook is one of the most significant moments in history

How many of you have a facebook account? I know I certainly do, 90% of people I know have a facebook account. In fact, facebook now has over 500 million members. That's around 1/12 of the world! Pretty incredible considering the amount of people who aren't able to access it anyway (poverty, poor etc). But why is it so significant? Well, the 'radio' took around 50 years to reach 30 million users, television took around 20 years to reach 30 million users. But in only 1 year, facebook received 90 million members! I don't know what you think, but that's pretty insane how I see it. Not only does it have so many users, it's become one of the top advertising platforms for various businesses and companies. I believe that there will eventually be something called 'F-commerce' where facebook actually has a currency. This currency will not change according to countries and will be a flat rate, it will completely dominate online shopping and banking as we see it, but that's only my views. What do you think about this? Please respond with your thoughts below. Thanks, Sam

Hi Bazerk, I feel its one of the social networking site which helps in finding all our friends based on our school, college and office. This is most interesting feature attracted me. Most of them are here for friends and other interesting Apps. i feel this is one such reason making it so popular.

I think that Facebook will continue to grow exponentially in the years to come.It is the most dominant social media site and tool on the web currently and has many users hooked from the moment they set their eyes on it.I am a user currently and have all my friends and family linked up.I really find it a useful site but think that some people use it way to much when they could be enjoying the outdoors, working, or trying new things.Face book even has games now which makes the site even more addictive and enjoyable. I personally only use the site when i need to, or want to check up what is going on with a friends.I am not one of those people that posts everything the are currently doing like for example .. I am watching this movie right now and it made me feel sad, or i am eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich right this moment. This is pointless and a waste of valuable time.Mabyee once and a while this is ok , but i personally know people that do it every waking moment which is just plain sad.

I really am happy that I found facebook. One of my students, when it first opened up to everyone, as it started as just a site between two colleges for their students, invited me to join. I did and since then have connected with old friends, classmates, colleagues, old students, family who live far away, even in Europe, made new friends, connections, etc. I even found an agent for my granddaughter and she has booked two modeling jobs, already. It is a great place for businesses now, and every business has a facebook! I hope that it remains as it is a fun way to share with more people that I ever could via email, phone or letters.
