I watch golf

Do I play golf? No, I couldn't hit a ball smaller than a basket ball. But I watch this sport, I love to watch the last day of the game, that makes it Sunday. My Dad was a golfer so I have always known about the game and watching each player trying to win, out there all on his own with just his skill, the weather, the course and his mind determining the outcome is something I love and admire. Well yesterday I watch a long time player hit a hole in one. I have watched him for years in the PGA and that made it very exciting for me. He won a new car. Do you have a sport where you feel like you know the players, they are almost like family?

Now that I have children, it isn't so much the case anymore. However, I had the opportunity to work as an usher for a minor league affiliate of the Houston Astros from the time that I was 21 until I was 23. During those years I had the opportunity to get to know some of the players. That was several years ago and now some of our old players are in the major league and whenever I see them I feel a lot of pride because I knew them back when.

Sorry this is a little off topic but when I read your discussion it reminded me of it. A couple days ago at work I was having a bad day, well, mostly because my ex was being a jerk and I was venting about it to a couple guys I work with. They started talking about going to the driving range to hit some balls and one of the guys said, "You should really go try it out!" I told him I had no interest in golf and he said, "Well think of it as a stress reliever. Just focus on that ball as being your exes head or even blow up a picture of him and set it out on the green and aim for it!" LOL I thought it was kind of funny! But now, back to what your discussion is really about. When I was a kid I was a huge Major League Baseball fan. Now that I'm grown, I don't have cable or anything because I can't afford it, so I don't get to watch it like I use to. But back then I could give you every detail about my favorite players.

Golf is considered an elite game here and only enjoyed by the rich and famous. To play golf here one needs to be a member to any of the clubs that provides golfing facilities and not everyone can afford the expensive membership fees that can run up to thousands of $.

I tried to play golf once and there was nothing flying but the dust. I was terrible..lol..I found out real quick that I enjoyed driving the cart alot more. I watch football and some racing, but I haven't been a fan to the point I felt like I knew a player. I have had some favorites throughout the years..but none that I really followed.

Nice discussion friend.I also like golf. Golf is good game, but it is hard to learn rules or how to play golf.I sometime watch golf and heard match result from news channels. Most of the people in the world like this game.

I watch the golf only when I have to....which is when I have a choice of crap, crappier and crappiest. This is usually on Saturday and Sunday afternoons or evenings when I'm waiting for the news. I don't have cable as I don't watch enough tv to make having it beneficial. I'd rather be reading, crocheting, myLotting, playing Pogo, cooking and any number of different things. Anyway, I do know the names of most of the golf pros. I just don't follow the golf religiously. Who made the hole-in-one? (I do that at Pogo all the time....)
