Could you ever decide on the best song you have ever listened to?

Hello myloters! Each of you has probably listened to many thousands of songs in his/her life. I think everyone likes music and everyone got a list of songs that they like much. I think many of you have probably even compiled a top 100 or something of their favorite songs of all time. Because for sure I had done it years ago. What I have noticed however is as years pass by and my music interests widen, many songs on that top100 are replaced by others. Oh well. The idea of this discussion is the following: Of all songs you have heard, can you locate one song, only one! that you think to be the best song of all times? Years ago I decided on the one I consider the best song of all times, and I have realized that I will never replace it from the top position. It is a song from Iced Earth called "A Question of Heaven". Would you please give me your opinion this? Can you choose one song only? Have a nice day everyone!

I do not believe that I could ever pick out one favorite song. Each song means something different to me and is important to me at a different time. I really do not listen to music much, either.

No, I do not make lists, but when a good song comes on I purely enjoy it.

Well, I guess you do have a top 100 list or something :) Or is it only me who had done it in the past?

Well J-Lo is far from my musical tastes, but some songs are indeed acceptable :) Primarily the ones that made her famous years ago. Thank you for your reply!

Well I mostly choose heavier genres, like rock, hard rock and metal. But my musical tastes are not that narrow, I like pop too.

I'll never have a solid number 1. My mood changes and my favorite of the moment will change with it. If I tried to make a top ten every day when I wake up, I'm sure I'd have a different top ten every day! Maybe that just makes me "wishy-washy", but I doubt I'm alone on this.

I am sure you are not alone there. Before listening to the song I mentioned, I had the same opinion. Thank you both for responding!

Like all music lovers,I've listened to thousands of songs and I love many of them, but I can't say that I can only name one song as the best I've ever listened to,no matter how hard I try,my number one song changes depending on my mood and on what I've listened recently;for example,a few weeks ago my favorite song was 'Farewell' by Avantasia, and then it was replaced by 'Silent Waters' by Amorphis, and tomorrow it might be another one.

I will load the songs you mentioned immediately in youtube. Always good to find a new song you like :) Hmm the Avantasia song... seems I have already heard it, and it is a nice one for sure. Now the Amorphis doesn't fascinate me. But its just tastes :) Thank you for your response.

By looking at all the posted comments on this, I have realized that nobody can ever say "modern" is their favorite thing. There are no "best" songs here mentioned by people that are modern songs, such as any by Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, etc. I think that the older songs, or songs that are not as famous, make the best impression in the human's minds. The modern singers can't seem to be "best" for real. Maybe in a few years, they'll be part of people's best songs, but for now, we prefer the more "hidden" songs. Maybe it makes people think of themselves as more unique. I don't know. Meh. I wouldn't be able to say my favorites, but songs that I listen to probably wouldn't be well known in this society, like everyone else's. My dream is to one day make a list of all the songs I like and actually rank them, but for now, it'll have to wait. Well, anyways, have a nice day!

It is true that people do not pick a modern song as their favorite one. I guess because they know that these songs we hear everyday do not have much future. These songs will not last for decades long, instead they get forgotten in 5-6 years the most. This doesn't mean that we do not get great songs that will be remembered for long. It's just too rare. Thank you for your response, have a nice day!

Of all my life listening to thousands of songs every year. I will never ever forget the song "You are My Everything" by Boyz II Men. This is the one that pierced through my heart, the one that gets me deep. Whenever I hear it I remember this very special girl which I used to like. I'd say "This is the only song I know". Metaphorically speaking.

The one that comes to mind for me is I WIll Always Love You by Dolly Parton. I love that song. Sort of sad. She sang it in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. She having to give up her business and saying good bye to her boyfriend who was going to run for some office and she didn't want to get in his way.

No, not really. There are soooo many good songs out there that it would be near impossible to even begin to make a "top 10" list. My favorite right now (I'm mostly into rock) is Avenged Sevenfold's "So Far Away". Check it out - I loveee it!

Hie makatas having a one particular song as your favourite one is very difficult i have many list of songs i sometimes listen to a particular song repeatedly which i like but no sooner than the taste of the song which i hear repeatedly just get lost from my mind then i find some new interesting songs. For example i had this list of songs which were my favorite ones but when i got to know some new awesome songs on internet and TV and interest towards the earlier songs got replaced and now i happen to hear that songs very less. Its just a common thing according to me everybody may have their different views according to it. So i think the music you hear can be replaced by new songs that come up until and when you have a strong desire to keep the old songs.

Well to a point I disagree with you. There are songs that simply cannot be replaced in your favorites list. I cannot imagine that newer songs are always better than older ones, you see. Thank you for sharing your opinion though, have a nice day!

Well, I have ask myself that question once, and I noticed that I can't choose one best song of the hole time. But, I can choose one song for a period of time, depend on my mood, like if I am sad, I like "Mad world" the most, when I'm lazy, "The lazy Song"

WOAh! That is one tough question my friend. I have listened to thousands of music and in different genre and years. I enjoy the songs of secondhand serenade,AAR, Greenday, TBS, Simple Plan, etc. on new generation of musicians and in the oldies I enjoy listening to Air Supply, Michael learns to rocks, Carpenters, Queen, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi etc., It's really hard to choose a solid number 1 song in my life. @.@ But I have a list of my favorite songs like top 100+ cause I'm adding new songs on my list whenever I hear an interesting new song.

I love the song Until i get over you.. I don't know the reason but every time i hear this song i feel that my heart is melting down. It make me feel so sad. I think i also feel in this song the real feeling of a broken heart person and the real emotion of the people that involve in the situation that being shown in the song.
