but I can´t use them anymore. I saw the avatar for shoes here and they reminded me of the time (a life ago) when I wore high heeled shoes, my feet did not hurt and my back was complete.
My doctor forbid the use of high heels after my back surgery. I had to give away all my shoes to my eldest daughter who had the same shoe size. She did not use them all as they were not what she liked.
Have you changed the kind of shoes you wear because your feet or back hurt more than before? Share your own experiences.

I used to be a dancer in another lifetime ago. he he he L.O.L. When I was younger and I always worked double shifts. From 10 a.m. to 2.a.m. in the morning wearing 7 inch or higher heels everyday and now I can not even think about wearing any kind of high heels my little toe has became my big toe from all that non sense in the past, I have a bad knee now thanks to my awful past too.

But weren´t they beautiful? And, weren´t we beautiful also? My daughter scanned a picture my husband took of me when I was about 45 years old and sometimes, when I´m depressed, I look at that photo and get better. Those were the days when I still wore any kind of shoe that I wanted. Nomore for me.

Same here, i don't wear high heeled shoes now. Since i got pregnant until now, i can't wear high heeled shoes because my feet easily feel pain and cramps. When i was young and working in the office, i bought many pairs of high heeled shoes and wear them almost everyday. I likes them a lot because by wearing them, it makes me looks taller and sexy. Now, i prefer to go for flat shoes or even sandals, whenever i go shopping or out from my home. I feel my feet more comfort by wearing them.

THe same thing that happens with pregnancy, happens with age. And you prefer comfort to looking sexy.

Aw that's too bad!
I love wearing high heels! But I can't wear one everyday because it's not practical with my work. I do wear one when I have the chance. I love wearing high heels because they make me feel sexy. And I'm not tall and I like feeling tall so I like wearing shoes with high heels. :D And high heels can make my feet look sexy because they are not. lol I only have a few pairs of high-heeled shoes even though I love wearing one because as I've said I can't wear one everyday so it wouldn't be practical to buy a lot.

High heeled shoes are sexy and beautiful. They go with beatuful hosiery, nice dresses and perfume. The problem is that, as time goes by, our feet start hurting

I only wear heels on special occasions, and then no more than 2 inches. Same reason, back and feet problems...

I've never worn shoes with heels the size shown in the picture. I'd love to try them on especially stilettos but I'm scared that I'm may fall. And all this back pain hype surrounding high heeled shoes makes me stay further away from them. But i really really wanna wear them (and walk without falling :-P)

I wonder if high heeled shoes are part of what society has placed in our hard disk. That and a Barbie body and that wonderful hair we will never have.

I have always preferred sneakers/tennis shoes and never did like high heeled shoes. I did occasionally wear them, but I would get out of them as soon as I could because they always hurt my feet.

They always hurt mine too, but vanity is a powerful motive. But I liked Summer when I was young, not as I do now because I freeze in Winter, but because I could wear sandals.

You are a wise person. But oh how happy I was when I finally could wear shoes like my mother had! Now my mother, at 87, can hardly walk. Her feet hurt too much and she blames it on pills she takes for other reasons. I think part of it were those awesome high heeled shoes that I coveted so much and tried behind her back

I've never been really fnd of high heeled shoes. maybe it is because the first pair I wore really made my feet ached. I think they were not really a good pair as they were very cheap when we bought them. Recently, I'e trying to wear high heeled shoes. The recent one I bought which I wore to a wedding is really comfortable. I did not get that aching feeling which I felt the first time I wore high heeled shoes. So,I think I'll be trying out more.
base on your story, it sounds like you really liked wearing those type of shoes. I'm really sorry that you can't wear them anymore.

Pople ted to get acostumed to wearing whtás best for them. There´s nothing to be sorry about not wearing high heeled shoes. As it is, besdes other considerations, I´m quite tall. So I would not wear high heeled shoes all the time for that reason either.

I'm sorry to hear that you stopped wearing the high heeled shoes because of medical reasons but the health is priority and you should take care. Don't be sorry. There are so many so cute designs of flat shoes too.
I've never worn high heeled shoes because I'm a little high myself. I feel weird when I'm with my friends and I'm much higher than them. Also my husband is my height and I'll be much higher if I wore heels. So I enjoy my flat shoes and I don't think of heels and I'm happy :).

I wanted to use high heeled shoes when I was little, but they never meant much to me later on in life. I am tall and well built. I don´t need high heeled shoes to look well, even now.

Ouch and Ouch..yes I love shoes and at one time the higher the better...as you said 'it now seems a life time ago'. Apparently as we age all of the body changes thus, the so-called "shrinking" derived from the spine. The high heels push the lower back forward this is why doctors don't approve. Also, as we age, our feet actually spread out some and over time we find ourselves wearing a different size or a wider shoe; this has happened to everyone I've known for a long time. It sure is a flashback to see some of the styles that are floating about, especially when we had some of the same styles 20 or 30 years ago I recall being given a pair of 2 1/2 spikes that were real alligator, and the party that had given them to me stated " hang on to them they will be back in style in 20 years", she was right! Like you Mari, may I call u Mari (Mar'ee)? I still desire to and occasionally wear the higher shoes but with a wide heel style, this works. Arthritic knees also add to to problem with myself. Do you have any shoe tales or something to share of your shoe interest? let me know, patti

I waited all my childhood for the highheeled shoes. I tried on my mom´s, when she wasn´t in the room. I´d sneak into her closet just to look at them and covet them. They had the attraction os Cinderella´s slippers.
Now I wear the sort of shoes one used to call: nurse´s work shoes. I have a special wonderful pair that I use all Winter. I hope they last as much as I do. My feet don´t hurt with them. Hurray!!!

I love shoes! Whenever id cash in my paycheck, all I can think about is what shoes i'll buy. Unfortunately, I've been staying away from high-heeled shoes lately. My work requires me to be on my feet 8-12 hours a day and no matter how lovely a pair of stilettos would match my outfit, I just cant wear them anymore because of the pain. A pair of flats wouldn't hurt my feet and my work performance.

hello Marguicha :)
well, i did not have a personal experience on this because i am not fond of wearing high heeled shoes. i know, it must be hard for you but i think it would be well to follow your doctor's advice. don't be sad that you are not able to wear such.. instead have a good smile and reminisce the good old times. the most important thing now, is that you'd take good are of your feet, your back and especially your health.

Hi, marguicha.....I stopped wearing 'heels' over 10 years ago because of arthritis in both hips. After two hip replacements, all I've worn are sneakers, loafers, and other flat-heeled shoes. I don't miss the heels a bit really. They were never comfortable and the styles were such that my toes were pinched all of the time. It's better to be sensible sometimes.

I've never liked high heeled shoes. I grew up seeing my grandmother's mangled feel (from wearing high heeled, pointy-toed shoes). Never wanting feet like that or the pain that she endured because of fashion, I've always opted for flat soles. My feet look fine, but I still have a sore back once in a while.

In my case, it was awesome and beautiful mom who wore highheeled shoes. My grandma used flat soles and was old (probably a lot younger than I am now)

Its natural to use high heeled shoes when one is young and enjoys the fullness of adulthood and when its a matter of health one has to take pre caution. It is painful to give up something you enjoy

I got my first not so high heeled shoes at 14, along with stockings and hiding to smoke with friends. I had to drop them one by one. I wonder what will be next.

Hi marguicha
Yes I have heard many as you who are forbidden to use them due to painful feet and backs. I still to date wear heels but suppose someday I too will post a discussion that at some point my feet and back may be affected.
Not yet but I hear it is very common when one does wear them often, as I do.

I had my back surgery in1997. The doctor forbid highheeled shoes forever. After a while, you feel that you´d fall to the ground if you put them on.

I remember wearing heels and really really enjoying doing so. I had to give them up because of ankle problems. I never had back aches, but have many friends who did. I just have to tell myself there are worse things that could happen but I do miss the look of higher heels.

Hi, marguicha. I used to wear it too. But I can't now. Age is the most factor not to wear high heel shoes. It can effect our blood flew. Healthy shoes, according to my doctor, is flat shoes. Better we follow doctor's suggestion, right?

I have followed those orders for more than a decade. But I see the passage of time and it hurts.
