Yesterday i went in marriage i did not get fuel filled in my car i thought fuel will be sufficient but it was a mistake it got finished while i was coming back from the marriage celebration of my friend.I was feared & stood up there on the road for around half an hour as my mind was not working at that moment as the time was 2:00 AM.
After some time i sat down & called my brother he came to the place on his bike & filled some fuel in my car. Then i came back home. But from the whole incident i got a lesson to always check fuel if you are going out & don't take risk.
Please share your thoughts if it happened in your life also.

LOL! There was a time in my life when I was sure that the "E" on the gas gauge meant "enough" to get to the gas station! I have since learned that this is not true, although fortunately I did not have to get stranded at 2am in order to learn that lesson. I would have been scared if I were in that situation, especially since many of the roads that I travel are not heavy traffic roads. Then again, I am not sure that a bunch of people passing me by when I was stranded really would have been a comfort either.

LOL @ Orson! I can honestly say that I have never been stranded at a drive-in, but it sounds like you might have at least one or two stories to share with inquiring minds ... and perhaps one of them might even be about being stranded at a drive-in!

With the high gas prices these days, the fuel tank is one indicator that I always keep a lookout in my car. I always guage how much, and how far it can go. And I always fuel up when I see the prices dip a little bit.
You're lucky that you have someone to call on during emergencies. But make sure that you always fill up next time.

I do the same thing ... when I see that gas prices have gone down a bit I try to put a little extra into the gas tank "just in case".

Oh dear you are lucky and blessed that at that hour you were able to get help and nothing happened to you. I would have been scared out of my wits had it been 2 am and I was stranded.
I use to be able to fill my tank twice a week but being that I am not working now it is not easy as the fuel here is very expensive. So I do rely on where I am going and estimating if it is enough or not and try to put some just in case.
I have not run out of gas but do have Triple A service also, in case I get a flat tire, run out of gas and or any form of car trouble towing. But at that hour I still would have to wait to be rescued and I would be scared. lol

My ex-husband used to reprimand me constantly about keeping fuel in the tank. He kept telling me that it didn't cost any more to fill it when there was still a half a tank left, even if I had to fill it more often, than if I waited until it was almost on empty and had to fill it up. In fact, it would cost less to fill it at only half a tank, although in the end I would still end up paying the same amount in gas at the end of the week. Still, I would have to remember to stop at the gas station, take the time to fill it and pay for it, and often I forgot.

Oh how I miss the filled tank days, unfortunately now I can only get the little that I can.
My truck has an digital indicator as to how many more miles before, empty. It signals me when I am at 20 miles before it is empty so this way I know if I have way less miles to go, if I can make it or not. Funny though that sometimes I say okay get it on the way back, then it is constantly beeping, oh my completely empty.

@ PAB - Yes you are right i should also do the same & to have tank full does not matter how the much the fuel is. This way you wont face such situation.
@HWG - I was lucky that nothing happened to me at that time.I should also think off to start like you or PAB because you cannot sure of the estimations.I have also taken now the services like speed to combat such situation.

So next time , better not assume. It's better to be always prepared for any eventuality.
Why didn't you call your brother right away after the car had run out of fuel? Imagine , being alone in the middle of the road at 2 a.m.
Had it happened to me, i would right away call for help over the cellphone. If not, i would ask for a ride to a kind looking stranger to get me home and i will attend to the car later in the morning.

Well, you have a point there. But if i see that the driver is an old lady already, maybe i will consider, because i am stronger than her in case....

WE MAKE BAD DECISIONS AND FROM THEM WE HAVE LESSONS,AFTER YEARS THESE LESSONS ADD UP AND BE EXPERIENCE AND BY EXPERIENCE WE MAKE GOOD DECISIONS.SO EVERY BAD DECISION IS THE STEP TOWARDS GOOD DECISION.
do you agree with me or not?

It never happened in mine but quite always in my friend's life. She is just way too lazy to get it filled and often calls up somebody for help. But this is no long distance travel. Just within the city. But that's enough of a lesson for all in my friends circle.

It happened with my cousin.. But not with me so far.
But yeah even i don't much care about car's fuel meter. And i always use car till the E mark in fuel meter. But i guess i should be more careful on that. Its okay in city area but it can be messy if we are on lonely highways.
