Hi friends, Many of you know that I have been having all sorts of medical checkups lately. Finally, yesterday, after a biopsy, the ugly word appeared: CA. I have a lymphoma, yet to know the kind and all that, but until I know on Friday or next Monday, I think I have to help myself. I know there are lots of brave people fighting with this. I know that diets of sorts help boost our immune system and that always hlps. Any ideas? I will not become depressed. I just wrotwe to my sister that I would not accept those "you poor baby" words but we could talk about my lettuce and arugule. I banned radishes too, because they are not growing properly Help is needed. I am starting to ask for my web of support to start working. Take care!

I'm so sorry to hear that the big C reared it's ugly head to you! I know that you can beat it though! I don't know anything about nutrition to help the immune system even though I need to boost mine as well. If you ever feel the need to talk about it, feel free to contact me. You know that it is a subject that is near and dear to me and I can say "been there, done that". But seriously, I am here to listen. Do take care of yourself!!!

I know that the first time around, I was working a state job and was worried about how much money I would lose after I ran out of leave. I had people from both my own agency and friends from another agency donate 500 hours of leave time so that I never had to go on leave without pay. That was a great help. The month before I finished chemo that time, I was starting to run out of leave and my doctor ok'ed me to work 4 hours/day so I was able to ease myself back into working. You might want to start a blog like I did so that you can express your experiences and keep everyone informed. I can help you deal with this emotionally I am sure. You are not alone even if we have different types of problem!

Thanks, Deb, but I have to let all this settle down first and wait until the doctors give the final opinion. There are thousands of ideas passing through my head that I hardly know where to begin. My daughters will help me out in many ways, but they have their own families and I don´t want to be a burden if I can help it. Let us go one step at a time. I do know that I can count with you, dear.

Thanks, Debbie. I only wish I could be half as brave as you are. I will have the final results at the end of this week or on Monday so as to know (as I say) what adjective do we put to an ugly noun. Meanwhile, I´m thinking what I should do by myself and what I shouldn´t. I just discovered that my type of C is among the illness that are treated free in my country. My doctor explained all of it in detail. This is just a new addition to medical care here. When my grandson had cancer, we all had to pool resources and even people in my daughter´s job put money for the chemo and all the rest.

Time to whip up all of the positive thoughts and energies that you can. It's difficult waiting on results of tests, etc, I know. You can boost the immune system with the types of foods you eat. Also regularly exercising but I'm sure you're already doing that with all of the gardening you're doing. Take a look at this web site to get some ideas. http://www.microsoft.com/canada/home/life-and-style/articles/boost-your-bodys-immune-system.aspx

Thanks for the link, friend. I found green tea in my pantry and will change my coffee habit for green tea. I love broccoli and many of the other foods in that list. I´ll check flax seed at the super and will try to include it in some recipes.

Blueberries seem to always be at the top of all the lists. I try to eat them occasionally but can't afford them all the time.

I'm sorry to hear that my dear friend, but I can see you have a positive attitude and that is one of the best immune system boost! I heard that avocado eating daily is good as it had the good fats, also honey, cinnamon with aloe vera juice mixed with a little wisky and taken daily is also good, also look for the benefit in lemon, and malt vinegar. If you look in the internet about cures/prevention for CA I Am sure you will find quite a good ranges of ideas and recipes, I have a few but I don't know if I can post them as an attachment here, but if you like just send me your email address and I will send them to you. In the mean time keep positive and take care and remember we are here with you all the way!

I love avocados and I would try the mixture you tell me about. You can send me recipes via PMs here. IT´s easier than email because I have always too much junk there and sometimes I don´t see it.

You have a wonderful attitude and a strong heart... I have heard that Vitamin C is an awesome immune system booster. The absorbic acid in it actually assists your body in absorbing the stuff out of other foods that you eat too. I think that veggies are also huge when it comes to a happy body. I shoule really implement more of them in to my diet too. I will be thinking of you and hope that the doctors have positive news for you. If not..we will kick them in the knee and demand a bit more positivity.

Hi marguicha Sorry to hear this my dear friend and I will refrain from any type of negativity. I am a very firm believer in positivity, though I am human and can revert to negative thoughts. I understand both Vitamin C and E are great supplement for boosting the immune system. Therefore, things like seafood and garlic also provide helpful immune boosters. Dr Sears has a nice article on his website you may want to take a look. It breaks down per servings as to what would be advisable: (this is not a referral link) http://www.askdrsears.com/topics/family-nutrition/foods-boost-immunity/8-foods-boost-immunity

Thanks HWG. I read part of the article but placed it as a favorite to read it carefully later. I am feeling very much pampered by my friends here. You don´t know how much this helps! I think that part of my problems (and of many other people´s) is that we live too lenely. Society has more stress and less human contact than it used to have. A BIG hug!

I went online since I posted my response and also found another very helpful article. It contains the during and after treatment type foods one should consider and the reasons for them. This is seems to be better then the first one I posted as it also lists exercises as well to balance and get stronger during any treatment periods. http://www.livestrong.com/lymphoma-cancer-diet/

I have done that all my life, friend. My father was a biochemist nd I was taught that before I learned to read. But now I´m in chemotheraphy and defences get lower due to the extreme medication I´m having. I have been lucky though and my hemogram went back to normal this week so I´m starting my second chemo on Thursday.

I have read that you need to do things to keep your body chemistry from being acidic. Don't know much more about it than that, but maybe there is some good information out on the internet. Sending best wishes...

Have you tried Niacin or lysine supplements. You should research Niacin. Niacin is very useful at high levels for many different things. We just started taking it ourselves. You have to get the niacin that causes the flush though.

You already have an inner disposition to face it so you shall succeed. Let me suggest you some idea. You see we have some spiritual power hidden within and we Call God as our Father. Now let us speak realistically. Man has conscious mind, subconscious mind and super conscious mind. If you can tap your super conscious you shall overcome all the fear. Better to take great advantage of the faculties God had laid within. Early morning as you wake up and late night when you go to sleep, every time that you are drowsy, repeat some positive affirmations that your intuition suggests you. Do slow breathing exercises so that the oxygen you take in may flow all over your body and purify you. Keep a Goal before that you encourage those who are like you. Relax and smile. You have a mission.

I know Reiki and I think that I´ll do some Reiki on me every night. I like doing Reiki with extreme soothing music and I bet that will also help.

Papayas are great for the immune system! It's great that you have green tea! I hope you will pull through. You sound like a strong person and are surrounded by people who love you! Also, you can take a lot of vitamin C. A cancer patient from where I grew up takes two after each meal. I don't remember the exact dosage, but be takes A LOT and is in remission. I also read about a Cancer patient who ate nothing but carrots. His cancer also got reversed. Meanwhile, I send you good thoughts and prayers!!!

Thank you very much, jak. I will do my best. I do eat well, but I´m sure there is food that is better than other. I learned to cook for my husband all the years he was ill and now I will have to learn to cook for me.

There is no particular food to eat to improve your health. What you have to do is imrpove your eating habits and lifestyle. 1. Eat all fruits and vegetables than junkfoods and meat. 2. Do your daily exercise. 3. Drink more water. 4. Sleep 8-10 hours a day. If you can maintain all of thiks I will assure that something will change on you. Just go back to the old times when all things are manual. Organic foods are very useful you should try it. Good day! God bless!

I have my small vegetable garden and even if it´s Winter, I will have some produce as our Winters are mild. It seems that vegetables and fruits are a must. Thanks for sharing.
