I tasted meatballs today that are pure vegetarian and I want to make like this. Well, I have no idea of how these were made since there is no instruction on the pack of the meatballs I bought. I wonder if there are home makers here who can share ideas of how to make tasty vegetarian meatballs? This meatballs taste like real meat but this is more healthy than real meatballs and this taste good.

I have always wanted to make this dish. I was able to watch it on the television. There are cooks who uses certain vegetables to replace meat. They say that the texture is just like real meat. I am wondering of the taste. If it would taste like meat then wow. But if they are vegetarian are they still going to be called meatballs?

"tasty vegetarian" = oxymoron of the day I would say.
I do a lot of cooking and have yet to come across this type of meatballs. Meatballs? If they're not meat as in vegetarian then they're not meatballs.
Try a search at www.allrecipes.com/ and see what they will come up with.

Here is a blogger who uses her own adaptation from an allrecipes.com recipe. It doesn't look too bad. She calls them vegballs I think.

Another alternative would be to just buy some veggie burgers and form into balls anc cook them.

I don't know what you'd call them without sounding rather rude!
The Italian word for 'meatballs' is 'polpette' (one is called 'polpetta'), 'Polpette di carni' if you want to be specific about them being made of meat. 'Polpa' refers to the pulp of anything and 'polpetta' is the diminutive.

This recipe seems the most successful and easy to follow. It doesn't use TVP/Soy protein but you could replace the walnuts with this, if you wished. I would be tempted to use cashew nuts (lightly toasted) instead of walnuts. I would also add dried herbs (oregano and parsley) and pepper. The soup mix probably has enough salt for an army!

Note that the vegetarian broth mix is NOT to be mixed with the meatball mixture! I would use canned tomatoes or a pasta sauce mix rather than the broth mix.

I make vegetarian burgers that taste good and this might work with meat balls. I just used, 1 cup green peppers finely chopped, 1 cup bread crumbs, 1 cup mushrooms finely chopped, 1 cup celery finely chopped,1 cup shredded cheese, 1 cup onions finely chopped, 2 eggs, 2tbsp of garlic powder, 1tbsp of black pepper, 1tbsp, chicken seasoning. Mix all the ingredients together and form into balls. You can deep fry it or bake it. Taste really good and kids would love it.
