Noway, first time dog owner! RIGHT QUICK, don't mean to get preachy but may i suggest rescuing your new pooch from a shelter. Not only would you be saving its life but you wouldn't have to worry about the first round of shots and all that. Also unlike No-Kill shelters, the poor critters unlucky enough to land in one of the others, Well their days are numbered and if they don't get picked they end up in a plastic bag and chucked in the dumpster with common trash. SORRY SORRY, its just disgustingly out of control. Especially here in Texas. Again not what you asked about so Sorry. Well I grew up with many dogs, cats, a chick, a bunny, and some birds and fish. Oh and a really cool Albino frog. Not all at once, this was throughout my childhood. All meant a lot to me and the family. Anyway im not really familiar with the breed you spoke of, right now I have a Rat Terrier who was given to me shortly after birth ( Snickers shes going on 8 now...thats actually her in one of the uploaded dog pics ) And a fox terrier mix ( Twix, who my mom saved from getting hit by a car as a pup like 4 years ago ). Love them both ridiculously, there complete opposites. Some day id like to get a blue eyed Australian sheep dog. That was the breed of my very first dog/animal ever ( JIGGER, he was really my moms, she had got him before i was born. He went down slides and ate bubbles and all that super cute stuff. OK well this wondered off horribly....My Bad...The End.

Shiba inus are very pretty dogs. But don't get a dog because they are pretty. Huskys are beautiful, but not and I repeat not, for an inexperienced handler. We have one and she cannot be handled by anyone but me and my husband because we know dogs. My favorite dog is the miniature American Eskimo dog. Very energetic and loving. Extremely smart. I have a mutt with the same basic ancestors. He looks exactly like one, only he is black and eskies are always white. My dog knows over 20 commands and is great with kids, a 2yr old and 4mnth old. Small dogs also live longer than big dogs(except short snout varieties ex. Pug) and in my experience, longer hair on a dog is easier to clean up than short hair. There may be more of it, but unless you invest in a seriously powerful vacuum its impossible to get all those tiny hairs out of your carpet!

Well I have a Yorkie. If your into small, cute dogs then this dog is perfect. People say they are hard to train but I don't find that to be true at all. My Yorkie is potty train and know alot of commands and he also lets us now if the baby is crying if we are unable to hear him. Yorkies are just lovable and you can dress them up and make them much more cute!
