pottermore.com--What is JK Rowling's announcement?

She has said in the past that if she ever has the time she would write a sort of Encyclopaidea of the Harry Potter universe.In this book it would have the biographies of all the major characters,a brief history of the Harry potter universe and other explanations on things in wizarding culture such as institutions,items,animals magic etc it would explain everything you need to no about the Harry Potter universe and i think this is what the announcement will be about.

I believe that she is going to announce that she is writing a new series of books about one of the characters from Harry Potter. I think that she is probably going to keep earning from the success that Harry brought her and a new series of books could allow her a whole new line of products.

Hate to burst your bubble but Rowling has already said that it is NOT a new book or series. Which seems the most likely to me... or some sort of social networking site for Harry Potter fans. I'm not really following the gossip though cause I'm not a Harry Potter fan. oh my God I hope not. if she does that she's really interested on fame now as she announced weird things about Dumbledore that never was in the book before. Harry was also supposed to SPOILER* ...die but instead she changed, wich I liked, now if she continue when she promised to make only 7 books...I'll be sad actually, she wouldn't be true to her words and her fans.

I think it'll probably be a website/maybe an online game, complete with the encyclopaedia she's been promising for years. Ideas from people I know include: "A kid's animated tv show", "Another park", and "A graphic novel". I sincerely hope it isn't a kid's animated tv show. I doubt it'd be another park (my mother's suggestion - she argues JKR is english but the park is in America), because I imagine Universal will have bought the rights to make more parks worldwide in the future, if they think it's worth it. Plus, there was nowhere near this amount of secrecy with the first park...building something like that has to be pretty difficult. My objection to the graphic novel idea is the same as my objection to further books - there are so many ways it could go wrong. Including the epilogue as she did, put a lot of fans off, and if she went on to write about the (*cough* ridiculously named *cough*) children, I think a lot of dedicated HP fans would say "No way in hell". I know I wouldn't be buying them, because honestly, the epilogue relationships and characters were disappointing. I don't feel like she could go on to write about Harry, Ron and Hermione, because a) where would it go, and b) it seems like it'd have to be aimed at adults. I love the idea of her going on to write about someone a bit DIFFERENT. Snape's point of view for example, or Malfoy's point of view during HBP, or maybe even something from the Marauder era, but it seems like there's nowhere to go with the Trio generation, and the kids aren't character's we feel attached to. A lot of people suspect a game, since the trademark is described as "multiple user-access to a global computer information network", but then this could just as easily suggest a fansite - JKR does love her fans, and the fanfiction community after all. Similarly, the trademark is also licensed for toys, games, books and clothing, so I don't know how much emphasis we should put on this. All in all, I don't know, but we'll find out on my birthday!

I hope so! I would love to see another series of books and movies. I love the Harry Potter stories. JK Rowling had a great imagination for these stories.I am glad that someone that actually deserved it got sucessful!

whatever it is, I am sure the timing was planned to draw even more anticipation and excitement to the opening of Deathly Hallows part 2. I know this is a cynical viewpoint, but the timing of this announcement is too close to the opening date for DHII to be coincidental.

I read an editorial quote saying that it's not a new book, but this doesn't mean it couldn't be an entirely new series based in the Harry Potter universe. I think it could be a browser-based game or encyclopedia of the Harry Potter world. If it were an encyclopedia, then I would think that the people at Harry Potter Lexicon would be in copyright trouble.

@rebella Just think that she will extend the harry potter fan fiction series like fantastic beasts sort of thing and by the way Potermore is going to launch in October. The book if it is on fiction it will definitely be a good hit. Pottermore.com what's in store in it?
