How much of your monthly salary do you save? How much do you spend?

My ideal would be 30% save and 70% spend but it seems that I can't follow that ideal. When we get a raise, our needs will also increase. I would remember one time I wished I had this amount of salary and then when I got it, I wished for another higher amount. There's no contentment. How about you? How do you spend your salary? How much do you save from it?

As for me, we have the same idea of how to save earnings. Honestly, I just consider saving "seriously" this year, I mean, I really want to save and I want to make sure that I will not touch my savings unless there is an emergency.

we have been very tight with our money for the past few years as we were paying off debt. now that we've paid it off, we save about half of what I make. My spouse's income pays for rent, insurance, and bills. My income pays for groceries, gas, and entertainment.

The same thing with me. When I first got my job I was so exciting to be earning so much. Now I'm looking for a new job because I can't get a raise and it's actually not that much money.
I save about 50% which isn't really enough.. I should be saving more because I need to pay for school.

Hi Karagala,
This happens with almost every person.People don't easily get satisfied with the salary they are getting & search for another job which pays them higher i also have done it in past. But now when i am married i have sticked to a job since last 5 years.
I usually spend 50% of my salary in food, gas, petrol, insurance, bills, clothings etc & save 50% of my salary. I and my wife are very particular about saving & saves penny by cutting of extra expenditures which we feel should not do.
