it is one of those hard days again.
yesterday it was announced at the office that there would be new policies when it comes to work, i really do not mind, it is work and office after all.. and pressure is higher right now.
i have no problems with any of it.. but a day after that meeting, i am absent and that is today. why? its family matter, my son is sick, his fever last night was 39 degree celsius i was not planning on being absent today, i even went to work this morning and left my son at my mother's house... but she called me at 10 in the morning and says i had to come home because my son is so weak. The medicines the doctor prescribed to him yesterday did not work.. i was crying at my cubicle because it was hard asking permission to leave after it was stressed out at the meeting that employees cuold not just leave immediately. But this is emergency right? i mean it is a good reason to leave abruptly. I did, went to my boss and told him i had to leave and told him the reasons... i guess he does not have any choice but to allow me...
i guess this is one of those days that you must put family over work. There might be consequences but its my son who is in line right now..the hell with the pending work right now... i can still do it tomorrow....hope so.

I can understand what you feel. For me, life is more important and time is gold, you can regret it if you did not leave your work and attend to your son. I just hope your son feels better now.
In this hard times, even if work is important to us, we need to attend to our beloved and see to it that we take care of them and give them time and priority than our work. Yes, you can still continue your work tomorrow, good thing that your boss understands the importance of being a mom to your kid.

There needs to be more accommodations for mothers and fathers who must leave to see about their sick children. When I worked a coworker was fired because she took off to much. Well her child has cystic fibrosis. He gets very sick. She got fired cause 'she didn't want to work'. What lie!

There are times when it is so hard to joggle work and family. We need to work to provide for our family that's commitment is much needed always. But in emergency cases family should be prioritize first because they are the main reason why we are working so hard. Our employers should be able to understand that because they have families too.

Your child will always come before your job. That is the way it should be. Some bosses might take exception to that, but they would take off if they were in the same predicament. You have to draw the line between family and work. I don't mean take off for every sniffle but if your child is sick enough to need a doctor then to heck with the job.
It would be different if you always laid out of work...but I don't feel that is the case here. You did the right thing.

In every case there is an exception. That is true also in offices, specially when it comes to absenteeism.
Hence, in case of emergency, one could get a permission to file an undertime or a leave of absence it it's the case. Of course, when our immediate family's welfare is at stake, we could immediately ask to be excuse from work.
Well, they could verify it afterward if it was true, should they be skeptical of the authenticity of the excuse.
