pizza from a gas station?

There are a few places around here that integrate a subway, a taco bell, and a dairy queen into a gas station, then there's a truck stop with a dairy queen and s little diner, but would you ever get pizza from a gas station.
No, the pizza place isn't in it's own little store like the others I mentioned above, it's a little assembly thing and the pizza is good. However, I was thinking about this pizza when responding to another discussion recently and thought to myself, would anyone ever get pizza or anything direct from a gas station like this? Or would you think "what in the world - what if it's contaminated?"
Well would you or have you?

It really is amazing because you can find some of the best food you have ever had in the most un thinkable place! Perfect example, a gas station! Glad you can find places like that and enjoy just like a local Chinese place in a gas station! Amazing Food...

a chinese restaurant in a gas station? I might be a little iffy about that but just because of the sauces they use etc, I'd probably get myself grossed out at it that's how weird I am!

Well I guess they just didn't have enough money to rent a different building or something, but it's good that they had good food, I haven't had chinese in awhile, I can't remember the last time I had chinese actually.

We have several of these. A Stinker(gas station) with a Taco Bell in it. And we have a Pauls Market with a Chevron station and pizza. Also our Maverick store has all kinds of baked goods and pizza slices. SO they are becoming a thing of the future I think. They've been here awhile.

I guess they are another way to compete with stores that have fast food restaurants in them like kmart and walmart. It's a good idea, provided the food is good!

I wonder, but I'm not sure. I know that when it comes to applying to say the restaurant inside kmart, you have to apply through kmart, so I suppose it's more like kmart owns that restaurant and pays out a percentage of sales to them.

We get it all the time. It is called Hunt's Brothers Pizza, and it is very good. I do not think that it is in any place that it could be contaminated. The "raw materials" come in from the company ready to be assembled. It is better than a lot of other pizza places and very reasonable.

Yep you are right that's what it's called, I forgot what it was called as I hadn't been there in forever lol, but thanks for reminding me!

If I remember the taste correctly (it's been awhile since I've had any) I believe it tasted like Little Ceaser's.

We have a gas station here that sells pizza and sandwiches which they make on location. They are not prepackaged. You can call ahead and they will make whatever you want. I have bought them before and they were good. I would not be afraid to buy there again.

Sounds delicious! Are the pizzas Hunt Brother's by chance? That's what they are at the place I am talking about.

I've never heard of Hunt's Brothers. It's the gas stations own brand.

Hi there,
Yes a lot of restaurants and fast food places are incorporating and joining in on the gas station deals. I also did a few online surveys last winter where they wanted to know opinions about what we would care to try from gas stations.
So I think it has to do with convenience and appeal for more to purchase such foods from the gas stations while they are there to pump gas.
And yes I have eaten from a few and while it was really good, would not plan to go there specifically for the food but nice to know it is there while on the road and or a trip where one does not want to go out of their way to pick up something to eat.

You bring up a good point, it would be especially handy for those who are travelling and do not want to go too far away from the highway just to stop and eat. There is a truck stop I know of that is handy for that, a gas station not only for the truckers but also for anyone, and they have a dairy queen and a small town cafe in there as well, so it's a one stop shop!

I was at a pool party recently where some people went out to a nearby gas station to bring back more food and came back with pizza. One of my friends at the party actually got sick from eating it, so I won't ever go near the stuff. Most gas stations are not the picture of health or hygiene, so I wouldn't want to eat prepared food there.

Most of them are not, and I wouldn't normally eat a place like that but this place is pretty good and the pizza did not make me sick. In fact I wouldn't mind having the pizza again, to be quite honest.

K-mart? The ones here have a little ceaser's in them, and little c's is really good, lol atleast I think so. it may have been Hunt's Bros that was at the gas station, as that is the one I am talking about, a member here reminded me.

In the little town where my children grew up we had one pizza place (Mazzio's) and then there was a Pizza Pro that was inside the Shell station. If we wanted buffet after church on Sunday or wanted to sit down and have a good time with friends, we always went to Mazzio's.
But one of the great things about the Shell station was that you could buy a whole pizza if we wanted to take it home, OR you could purchase it by the slice. This was awesome if only one of the kids wanted pizza and everyone else wanted burgers or chicken. I could simply run in and grab them a slice or two, and then get what everyone else wanted somewhere else.

This one doesn't sell it like that I don't... wait now that I am thinking about it I'm picturing the sign in my head and they do, but We never got it that way. The pizza was pretty cheap, about the price of a Little Ceasar's pizza, and the more I talk about it the more I want it.
I can't imagine when I have kids, they are ALL going to want something different all the time because I am such a picky person.

I've only seen one that has pizza like I'm talking about, lol but what are the names of the gas stations you've gotten yours from? I forgot the name of the gas station I got mine from but it's small town.

Where I lived for a few years their was a gas station that had a deli and they did pizza and BBQ. Around the corner there was a gas station with a deli, little restaurant, and a BUTCHER SHOP inside it. A few miles down the road was another gas station that had a deli, things like burgers and fries for lunch and breakfast. They also had hand scooped ice cream. I have eaten at all of them.

ahh seems like they were everywhere there, it makes me wonder how many actual restaurants (like fastfood) were there in comparison? Sounds like a sort of small town too.

On road trips, we've stopped at places like that and eaten at the Taco Bell (or whatever) inside. And we've bought road snacks at those places often enough. But gas station hot dogs and that sort of thing? I stay away from them.

I can understand that, I bit into a sandwich from a gas station once, don't think I finished it, it was one of those wrapped up delivered deals, but this pizza is really good lol. I don't like gas station food unless it's like a twinky or something usually.

Those prepackaged sandwiches are yucky, even in the grocery store. I am hesitant about the hot foods, like hot dogs, etc. because you do not know how long they have been sitting out. The pizza, however is freshly made. Then there are the C Stores that bake pastries and cookies. We have so many food opportunities.

I've often wondered about that, with fried chicken at the 7-eleven near hear. It so happens that KFC is just a block away from 7-eleven. And yet, when you go inside, you see that they serve fried chicken too. Wouldn't somebody craving for a fried chicken just go to KFC instead? Sometimes I think that that chicken is so old, because there is no market for it.

That is a bit of an odd competitor to be honest. A 7-eleven near a KFC. Yeah I think I'd go up the road to the KFC unless I knew I could trust, or felt I could trust the chicken. Then again, if it looked like it'd been there for awhile, you can bet I'd just take my happy butt up the road to the KFC.

I know there are some gas stations out here that sell food that are not affiliiated with any store. I remember one time I had bought a hotdog from a convient store and I had gotten sick the next day. If there is an actual food place such as Subway I would feel safer eating there because it is more sanitary and cleaner.

the pizza was hunt brother's pizza, it was basically frozen pizza you could add your own toppings too, I am weary about eating gas station food though.

Well, I would prefer to eat pizza in a restaurant rather than in a gas station. The place where you get a pizza should be appropriate in order to taste its delicious flavor the best way. However I've seen many places where people can buy a piece of pizza and eat it standing because they have not time and it's probably cheaper than in a restaurant.

The place I was talking about has a table where you can eat the pizza at and so no need to stand. It'd be quite difficult to hold a box of piza and eat a slice at th same time, so good thing they have the table. However, it's also convenient for those fueling up after a long day of work and needing to bring something home to eat for the family.

I would have no problem eating pizza from a gas station. I've done it plenty of times before. Some of that pizza was the best pizza I've ever eaten. The gas station where I live sells pizza from this little rack thing. It rotates and is kept under a heating thing so it stays warm. Its probably the same thing that you are talking about.

Hunt's brothers? I'm not sure as they aren't premade here, it's almost like pizza at subway except these pizzas are bigger and not deep dish. Basically you get to pick the veggies like you do at subway.

this is true, but I guess people don't really think like that. I'd be iffy about buying something that was made inside of a gas station, but this pizza is really good!
