Is it wrong to hunt animals, to eat or just as a sport?

For me I am a meat eater. I don' think it is wrong to eat animals such as cows, pigs, chickens, and any animals along those lines that are bred for such purpose.
But I don't agree with the shooting of bears, tigers, lions, foxes, and quite a few others I could list. How can ayone get fun out of killing an animal well for the fun of it? Whats the point really? I just don't understand!
Over here in the UK the animals of fun and games to hunt is the fox, as its counted as a pest, verman and infact its a beautiful animal just trying to fight for survival.
In certain parts of the US its big to hunt bears, such beautiful animals but yet people choose to shoot these down and yes sometime they may eat the meat, but why not shoot a cow instead and eat that, why shoot such a beautiful animal thats just trying to survive, I just don't get it.
What is your opinion on this? Do you hunt animals? Do you agree or are you against it? Opinions please

I am a vegetarian and hence I do not like or approve shooting animals for hunting or for pleasure purposes.

In Africa, we really kill animals for their meat. And this animals include cows, pigs, chickens etc. I do not see anything wrong with hunting animal in as much as that animal is to be used to meet the need of the society. We could eat their meat, have their skin as leathers, and jewelry etc.

I do not hunt animals and have never used a rifle or whatever is needed. But I have fished and eaten the fish I got and other fish food. I donĀ“t think that hunting to eat is worse than to go to the super to buy some meat. It is just easier in some places to buy meat and in others to hunt. But To hunt for sport (to be happy killing) is always wrong from my point of view.

I don't like hunting for sport, it's actually illegal here in Canada to hunt for sport. But I'm definitely in favour for hunting for food, plus I'd like to start keeping the fur as well, I think it's a shame to waste such perfectly good fur. We have licenses for each category of game and we will be starting to report what we hunt starting this year, some new law that passed this year.

I am for eating meat because this is how humans are created, they were not made to be vegetarian and it's a normal and necessary to eat meat within certain limits, but I will never agree with hunting as a sport;it's cruel indeed to hunt animals as a form of entertainment, and those who kill the poor animals for their own pleasure are for me the real beasts.I only agree with shooting wild animals when they represent a real threat for people.

I am of the view that shooting of animals should be banned. Regarding killing chicken, mutton for eating animals it is ok because they eat them. if all the people become vegetarians the price of vegetables will go up.

In my opinion:
Hunting and killing animals just for fun - pointless and disgusting.
Hunting and killing animals to eat - resourceful and hungry. :)

The sad fact is that NO animal wants to end up on our dinner plate. I don't know why it is acceptable to kill animals for food or sport. Just a culture I guess. The fox hunting you mentioned is no better than other kinds of killing. The poor animals want to live their lives like we do. We go to the grocery store to buy meat we are killing animals indirectly. The more meat we buy the more cows, pigs, and chickens are led to slaughter. It's not a pretty thought. It's also disturbing to kill animals for sport.

I understand why people kill animals to eat, but I'm with you in the sense that I don't get why some people kill animals just to have them as trophies. These are living creatures, we should respect life. If humans can rationalize, I don't see why we as a whole can't see that hurting animals for the fun of it is not acceptable, it's just cruel.

The human being was genetically created to hunt and not to procure food to eat from supermarkets. In the past there was hunters, farmers and animal breeders. Obviously today we have become accustomed to the comfort of sitting on the TV and get our food from supermarkets everyday. Although we live in a jungle everyday, but still hunt for pleasure. The real problem is with the poachers and not with the people who are licensed and are hunting on closely monitored areas and sites.
