Actually, some of the best places in New York aren't in New York City. To me, some of the best places to visit in New York are in the upstate area. Rouses Point is a really nice, small lakeside village on the shores of Lake Champlain. Akwesasne is a thriving Mohawk community with a lot to see and do, there is a casino there that I have been to a good many times. The casino restaurant has some amazing food. I also recommend a visit to the Adirondack Mountains. I have always found the best places to see when visiting any region, are usually the smaller, more out of the way places.

X I have never been to upstate New York but I have gone on the East Coast trip several times and I loved it. My East coast trip is Baltimore, Washington, DC, Philadelphia and New York City.

If you ever get the chance, you should go up there. It's absolutely beautiful, a whole different world from NYC. I traveled through there quite a bit when I was spending a lot of time in Ontario.

Well, I live in New Jersey, so I get to go the the city a few times each year. We have gone to upstate New York for the trees and hiking, but of course there is nothing like the life of the urban jungle. Naturally, you're going to want to go to Times Square. I've been there so many times, but it is always strange to see it on TV. You might have heard of the naked cowboy guy, I've seen him a few times in person. Of course, they have the M&M's store, and the Hershey store, and the huge Toys R Us, and the Willy Wonka candy store. Then there's Central Park of course, can't miss that! I love going on the Staten Island Ferry, there's not really that much around Staten Island. Of course, the Statue of LIberty, though I have never been inside of it. The museums are some of the best, they're everywhere. I have been to the Met, and many of those museums do not have a set price. So, you can pay whatever you can afford to go in. There are tons of museums, not even just for art or history, lots of stuff for the kids too.

I didn't went to New York but it's one of my dream to go there specially Brooklyn. I want to see tallest building there. Sad to say, I don't have any relatives living there. All of them living in Texas and they are inviting me to visit their place.

Unfortunately, I took a very whirlwind trip and didn't get to do much at all. Went to Times Square a couple of times, because it was just about a ten minute walk from our hotel. Saw Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark (with the original script and original cast because my friend-ish was in the now defunkt Geek Chorus), ate at the Hard Rock cafe... Yeah, didn't really do much at all! But it was enough to make me want to go back some day.

There are so many choices in New York. My favorite places to eat are Bond 45, the 21 Club (a restaurant and bar), and Maxie's, which are all pretty close to Times Square. There are also some great places in Little Italy. I always do my shopping in Times Square and SOHO. A great place to find good deals is Century 21, which is right by Ground Zero. A wonderful hotel is The New York Palace. It's located right across the street from St. Patrick's Cathedral. It's really comfortable, the staff are super-friendly, and Gossip Girl shoots there. When I was there a few years ago, I was lucky enough to meet Blake Lively, Michelle Trachtenburg, and Chace Crawford! Have fun in New York! You should go to a show while you're there, too! I would recommend Wicked or The Lion King.

There's so much to do in New York City! I'd recommend traveling outside of Manhattan to Brooklyn or Queens, so you can get the whole feel and possibly(but not hopefully) get as confused as every tourist I've seen when it comes to using the subways. When shopping you should focus on Time Square for the whole huge building stores thing, Chelsea is great but very expensive, Go to Canal Street and try to get as many bargains as you can(I save so much $$$ from the little shops there). There's too many options when it comes to food. Try everything you possibly can! Go to little italy for traditional italian food and don't forget gelato for desert. Go to chinatown for traditional chinese, you can find lunch deals on every corner of china town (mostly $5). There's koreatown if you're up to try the spice, and if you do decide to go there, I'd recommend getting some Red Mango Frozen Yogurt Hope I've helped you!

Well I would suggest the basics like Liberty Island, Ellis Island, 5th Ave(shopping) and if you visit Macy's and have a foreign passport bring it along for a 10% discount! I would suggest visiting Soho, very nice place and Central Park(during the day). I used to go there on dates and rent a horse and carriage. What type of places do you want to go to, what is your budget and who will you be with?
