Today we celibrate our independence from English rule. It was not the last fight we had to obtain this, we had another war with them in 1812. I love history and find it circles within circles. Right now, at this time the English are some of our best friends. When we fought for independence we were a very small country fighting a very big one. To them we were just an upstart going against the King's rule. The expense for this war was very unpopular in England. Even our people were divided some still wanted the protection of England regardless of the costs to us, but the freedom fighters won out after great sacrifice and now we are what we are. Like any family we fight and bicker amoung ourselves, but when in danger we hang together. God Bless America. Thank you.

Hi savypat, I too am a great lover of history and while I live in Canada, I am happy to say with you, God Bless America. We fought each other in the war of 1812 but today we are good friends and neighbors. Blessings.

I've spent the whole July 4 serving Americans and it was a lonely day for us, regarding the calls to be more specific. There were too few calls and it actually made me wonder what's up. When I found out it was Independence Day, I was like "Ooooohhhhh... that's why."

"and now we are what we are" Yeah, right now we are so messed up with a congress that can't govern the country because they've all been bought. We have developed into something that is quite far removed from what those first men fought for. They seem to be looking out more for their own interests instead of what is best for the country. I love this country but not the architects of the dissolution that is in progress. We're all so lucky to have been born in the United States. I still wouldn't want to have to live in any other place. So, Happy Birthday to the United States. And I can only pray for God to bless us.

America is a great country, or should I say was a great country. I always loved the 4th of July. We have come so far from the days of the british. I believe that this country, even though they fought the British, runs this country in the same manner of what we fought against.
