Opportunity for writers

Hi, wordypeople! I was just running through some of my old haunts (blogs, as in) and dropped in on Raven. She's very anti-low-pay jobs and is one of those freelancers who gives you a real kick in the proverbial body part when you do something dumb. Great stuff.
Anyhoooo, she had a post on her site back in Feb about a paying opportunity for writers. Not a referral and I've never heard of them but I know Raven doesn't talk rubbish, so I figured I'd go check it out.
The company still exists and it looks like they should pay reasonably well, as long as you can write good English and all that usual stuff. I don't know, since I'm not pimping it or anything: I just saw it a minute ago.
The company itself is over at http://paidforumposting.com/forums/index.php/topic,6455.msg66132.html#msg66132 and all the details are on Raven's blog over on Blogspot: http://ravens-writing.blogspot.com/
I'll say it again: that's not a referral. Hopefully it'll be of use to some of you.

Oh yes I already heard about that website before. but it seems to be pretty outdated with the trends about making money online. I know postloop pays better and it has more updated rules than this one. The list of forums to post in gets longer and longer everyday.

I have also heard about the Postloops that you have mentioned in your response. Can you please help me with some minor things? I have signed up there and they have asked to make something like 10 or so posts. But all the forums show a symbol of a lock - denoting that I cannot make any post there - maybe for some reason unknown to me.
Now as long as I don't make those 10 posts, how to I get active there? Is it open to Indian members too?
Please guide.

300 words = $1 is low but not bad if its going to get me something. And by the way, writing 300 words is not too heavy a work. But my problem is that I am not able to write the posts as it shows me the lock sign. I am totally confused.

Postloop pays less than 8c per post. That's 12 posts per dollar, at 25 words (average) per post = 300 words for $1. That's the same as awful article pay - very low, in my opinion.
But hey, if you're happy with it and it's bringing in cash, I'm not gonna knock it!

Check out Writer's Market, Writer Beware and any other online communities you can find, like Scribophile and Authonomy. They'll have hints and tips for finding an agent and so on.

She doesn't post often but it's worth it when she does!
She and I disagree on several fundamental things but she's a lovely lady. Very helpful.

I am interested in getting serious with writing. I need some guidance on how to do it best, and in searching for good places to write. Perhaps I need to check it out and learn from it. Thanks Spike for sharing that.

Drop in on my profile and grab the free guide, pop over to my blog and read a couple of things, ask questions here on MyLot. There is no "right" way to do it - for example, I do absolutely no marketing but still have plenty of work to fill my part-time schedule. I just flounder around and eventually find stuff.

Thank you for sharing. I am currently looking for a homebased job even though I got to earn in cents as long as its legit. Hopefully I can find some online based jobs that will fit me on those sites you've provided. Thank you very much!

I am basically "vacationing" this week, until next Wednesday, but I do appreciate the opportunity and I will see what Raven has to say. I have promised myself that I am going to get my writing going and make some decent money online. Just have a wonderful chance to visit with family and friends right now.

I have lots of coffee year round. It is fresh air, sunshine and hugs from the grandkids. I got a bit of sunburn.

Always best to take a break before a new enterprise: you'll go into it with more energy and zeal (from all that coffee and cake, no doubt!).

Hi Spike. I followed up one of Raven's leads a good while back, and it was the best ever thing I did. I now have a REAL writing job and have regular gigs with big name firms - wish I could post some links but it's probably frowned upon ...
Glad she's come up trumps for you too. Sadly I can't take on more at the moment as I'm (supposed to be) recovering from an emergency which saw me in hospital with a brain bleed - not good for writers! But I've made a note anyway.
Gets my gip when I see people aiming for a penny an hour writing "pay-to-view" blogs. Agreed, that's all some of them are worth, but ...

No idea, but if Raven's cool with it you won't be earning rubbish.

Hi Spike! Thanks so much for these links. I'll definitely try them out and who knows what may come of it? Even if they are rather low paying, as you say everyone has to start somewhere and I've found that at this stage in my life, every bit helps!

They're not too bad if Raven suggested them: she's very much against the whole "300 words for $1" style of paying people. They might be a little lower-paid than some of the better jobs around but I suspect they'd work out near $10 per hour if you're quick and good. I don't really know, since I haven't applied (and won't be - don't really have time for it).

Well even though you started this discussion 4 months ago, the link was still valid so I decided to sign up and give it a try as what do I have to loose? Have you tried it by now, and are things going Good with it or in other ways for making money?
