Do you like the way the chase was given up?

15 overs less than a 100 to get and both teams decide to call it a day. India had reasons to agree but why did WI miss the chance to embarrass India? I'd have thought the match referee would step in and take to at least another 10 overs but it was not to be. I think this way they are going to kill test cricket and in future we will see only T-20, what do you all feel?

The calling off of the game especially by India is disgusting. They should have at least tried to get there because it was quite possible. God knows why they did not even try.

Hi moksha,
I am really disappointed that India failed to chase relatively easy target. The wicket of Mukund of the first ball of the innings must have dictated Dhoni and Co. to abandon the chase. I feel Dhoni should have come 2 down in place of Raina. That would have certainly helped Indian chase but India preferred to bag the series 1-0 then risk having it drawn 1-1. The chase, according to me, should have started at the time when there were still 30 overs to go when Dravid and Vijay were at the crease but none of them could force the pace. Vijay fell in the process and Raina who replaced him also failed. Dhoni, I feel, would have certainly made the difference. Achieving the target of 80 odd runs with 15 overs to go on 5th day of test match was not possible. I would not however agree with you that the test match became less interesting because it was abandoned with 15 overs to go. This was one of the most interesting test matches. The way W.I. fought back from the dumps to draw the match, will be remembered for long time to come.

a contest should produce results.if the no. 1 test side can't chase 80 runs in 15 overs then there is something seriously wrong with test cricket , have you forgaotten 400 + chases in the 4th innings this was just a less than 200 run tgt in 47 overs.Sehwag and Gambhir would have done it at a canter.

Dear Moksha,
With seven wickets in hand, fifteen overs to go and eighty five runs to get, on a placid track.... abandoning the match was the worst decision made...!!!! One could understand if the Indian team was about five or six wickets down and wanted to play for a draw. I believe that the West Indies team would not have abandoned the match if the Indians were a few more wickets down...!!!
I guess the Indians were happy that they had won the series...and West Indies were happy with the two centuries...!!!! I hope that the Indians learn how to be ruthless in their approach to successfully maintain their number one status in tests...!!!

Certainly not and they could have pushed for a win but India decided to play safe and take the series win a little earlier than expected. After having lost opener Mukund in the very fist over, India were put on the back foot and then Dravid and Vijay played well to get on a partnership.
Test cricek is definately on the decline and not many people like it any more as they have to wait for over 5 days to get a result. It was suprissing that the Westindies also agreed to settling for a draw with 15 overs to spare. They could have given it a shot at the Indians. But as the situation stands India wrapped up the series 1-0 and well played..
