A thought came to me this morning while watching Jose Baez walking his baby killer client out of jail. How does he sleep at night knowing that he as let a baby killer out into the public? I know he thinks she is innocent but give me a break after all the evidence is he that dumb. How do they defend a client using nothing but lies? I don't understand how they let their brains accept this. I would just love it now that he has defended a baby killer and she was acquitted that he would lose clientel and no one would want him as a lawyer. Knowing that he defended a baby killer and let her get away with murder. I surely hope it all backfires on him. He took this case all for the fame of it all. He wasn't looking for truth he was looking to get his client off and for his picture to be plaster all over. It just makes me sick of the whole system and how it works for the crimmnals and totally against the victims in so many cases. The court system needs to be revamped from top to bottom. What do you think?

How do defense lawyers sleep at night? by not caring whether their client is innocent or guilty, just as long as they WIN
Look at the lies Baez told to these jurors, did he or his client care when they threw Casey's father under the bus with their outrageous "accident" theory? no,of course not and i doubt very much if he really believes his client is innocent,he knows what a habitual liar Casey is and also knows the evidence the prosecution had against her.it just didn't matter just as long as he won.
I also agree with you regarding the jury system in this country. how these 12 people were able to acquit her is mind boggling. IMO, judges should be the ones to decide a persons guilt or innocence, they know the law and are more than knowledgeable about the facts of a case and also are not swayed by ridiculous theories and speculations.

You are so right. I agree that the judges should be the ones to decide of their guilt or innocence. I know Judge Perry would have said she was guilty without a doubt.

The man did his job. He brought in a verdict of not guilty. He created reasonable doubt. That was what he was supposed to do. If he hadn't done his best and it became known, he could have been in trouble with the bar association. He said that he believed that she was not guilty and he worked toward that.
Sure she lied. Many times. But a liar does not a murderer make. There was no concrete proof of murder. There was no definite proof that it was an accident.
I'm so tired of seeing this stuff on tv and the internet and just everywhere. It's time for the media to get off of this and stress more important things.

You didn't get my point. I said how do defense lawyers sleep at night. The evidence pointed to her guilt and because we ended up with 12 idiots for jurors she is now a baby killer set free. I don't know how defense lawyers sleep at night when they don't really know the truth. In most cases the person is lying to the lawyers to get off. Thankfully we don't come across so many idiot jurors like this one. If this case was tried in New York City she would be doing life in prison for sure.

Hi Lelin, i agree w/u 100%. I think Baez really thought he was something the other night walking her out of jail. Lawyers do this ALL the time. I don't know how they could defend people like her but they do & make big bucks & gain alot of fame for it.

I saw him walking her out acting like he was all big and bad. He definitely wanted her walking out the front doors because he wanted the pictures taken and the added fame. Its just so sickening.

I know the whole world is up in arms over this crime and the court system letting her go.
You have to remember, she won't make it long and she and that guy who let her go, they will probably write a book and become famous.
There is just nothing fair.
Get some sleep and let life take its course.

I also feel disgusted when I read about lawyers who manage to defend successfully people who committed terrible crimes, and I also wonder how they can sleep at night, but I guess the answer is simple:they sleep very well because they have no conscience and they feel no remorse, they only enjoy the smell of money from their clients,it's the force that motivates them and makes them defend guilty people with so much conviction.I don't know what can be done about that, because any person,no matter how gruesome its crimes were, has the right to defense.

I'm just hoping that enough people are so sick of this case that they stay away from Jose Baez and he ends up with no clients.

You are right that the jurors had the last say and they were a bunch of idiots in my opinion. Just from the evidence during the trial alone she was guilty. I knew alot more because I followed the case from day one back in 2008 when it all happened. However, while watching the trial I put all that I knew aside and still after closing arguments I still came up with guilty of manslaughter at least. How 12 people could come up with not guilty is beyond my comprehension. I just think they were lazy and didn't want to do the real work involved in deliberating.

I was actually quite surprised as well that she was only convicted for providing false information.
On the other hand, she will live in a world where everybody is judging her and will forever think she was guilty because of the exposure she receive.

I wonder the same thing sometimes. Its like they will come up with anything to try to get their client off. I think its wrong. I think even if they believe their client is guilty they will still do what they can to make them free. Its probably all about the money and pride for them thinking wow look who I got freed from jail even with how obviously guilty they are. I couldnt sleep at night if I were them thats for sure.

He sleeps pretty well, I guess, knowing that whether his client was guilty or not, she got a fair trial of the kind the Constitution requires for accused people.
C'mon, think about it, Lelin...what if someone accused you of robbing a bank and shooting an old woman in a wheelchair that was holding a baby? It wasn't you but someone who looked enough like you to be a twin. The public thinks you're a monster, you know you're innocent, but the media tries you before your trial and the court appoint a defense lawyer that just doesn't care. You are judged guilty and eventually die of lethal injection--because people like you didn't think you deserved a fair trial!
I know you're angry, most of us are. But letting one guilty person go after getting a Constitutionally fair trial is much better than convicting even one person who is innocent. Especially when he or she is tried in the media before they even have their day in court.

You are right about convicting an innocent person. However, the defense lawyer could have asked her to do a lie detector test to see if she was telling the truth or not. Making up stories about a drowning and being molested just to get off is horrible. Then Jose Baez has the gaul to ask the parents if they would be a decoy for their daughter. After putting the family thru hell he had the gaul to ask for help. I'm so glad they said no.

i dont want to judge him nor the victim. the lawyer is just doing his job to win the case to have a good name as a good lawyer who can win the case same thing as we do in our job trying to be recognize and be more good even though we dont want the job but since they trust us to handle the job then we need to do it whether we like it or not. the more case they won the more client ask for his service and the more income they will have. same things on our job if we do good things our boss will give us merit and more project for us to work with to earn more.
though its not about money matter but its the name and principle they are trying to defend, they tried to defend their name as a lawyer, as a very will know lawyer who won many cases. lawyers follow law and books and not their heart even though they think its bad but they need to defend the client who trust them. so lets just understand them as lawyers are lawyers nothing personal but just for job sake.

The same way that you do- by closing his eyes too. More than just doing his job, it is unfair for you, and for the public to judge defense lawyers from a moral high ground. You did not hear the entire evidence. You are basing your opinion on what the media has shown you, and most are just portions of the entire episode. I have been a trial lawyer for more than fifteen years now, and the one lesson I have learned is that most things and most people are not always what they seem. You'd be surprised how some people who look and act guilty are not actually guilty. Being guilty is a conclusion - and conclusions are not facts.

I have watched and listen to this case from day one back in 2008 and Jose Baez defended a guily person and got her off. She is 110% guilty of murdering her daughter. Her own parents, brother and Aunt know she is guilty of the murder not to mention most of the nation who followed the case from the beginning. It was sickening to see Baez make up a story of an accidental drowning. If it was a drowning then why was there duck tape on her mouth and nose. Give me a break. I just hope and pray that there is a back lash and Jose Baez ends up with no clients.

They most likely sleep on a nice cushy bed made for all of their blood money for defending people like this. Really though it is kind of hard to imagine how people can live with themselves, but in other ways, its very easy to see how these people can live with themselves. I'm sure for many defense attorneys, they might rather dread getting such a case like this, as they have to find a way to defend a person like this and there are many other people out there who have gotten off. Then again, for some of them its all about the money and they have no shame. No shame at all. It is kind of disturbing at times when you think it.
Yet a job is a job unfortunately and I think that its one of those things where the wrong verdict might have been reached as well. This is a case that has stirred up quite the hornet's nest of emotions and perhaps in many cases, it is a good thing that the general public does not judge a person guilty or not. This is one of those cases, that you might be able to make an argument that they might have done a better job. The defense attorneys in situations like this are just one cog in the wheel of insanity that is the legal system. This is not the first time or it would be the last. Yet for a lot of people, attorneys especially, the money that they get covers a multitude of sins. Its a raw deal and sometimes the truly guilty are able to get away. It is stomach turning in many ways.

woww, this so unfair, i know most of the time lawyers who defend a criminal it comes to my mind that why criminals have a lawyer when almost everything is against them, proofs of their crimes and still they get away with and surprise!! they are out of jail, most of them pay huge amount of money to lawyers to get them out of trouble.

even you can do that if your a lawyer and its your profession and they are giving you allot of money which will help you to buy new building house or for your daughter or kids future or you daughter marry. by that money you can pay your all credits that time you also will try to win that case for your criminal clay-ant (sorry if i miss spell) because now only big people of this society are innocent all thinks poor people are just criminal or they think poor people are just a mosquito or a virus the rich people think that they think they can buy anything even a human
so a lawyer studied to earn something if they getting good money than they can make a true case to a fake case and to a fake case to a true case they can do anything just throw money on there faces

I think he sleeps in peace as he know he had done everything to save his client. He has done everything to prove that all those years spent in law school was not wasted and he can sleep well as he knows he really knows the laws of men!

yes your right, sometimes we over judge those lawyer without thinking that the real fight is the fight protecting their names whom trusted by their clients and thats what they are thinking thats why even though how bad it is already they tried to find way to won the case to tell the world he is a good lawyer who can handle even the most sensitive case so that a lot will trust them and will get his service as their lawyer.
