...with another diet plan. It's my first day today and like my usual first days of dieting, I see to it that I've locked up all my cravings on a treasure chest. I've been doing this every now and then. After few weeks of my previous diet plans, there I go again with my normal food intake. So, the result, still overweight. Add the factor that I am hypothyroid, it would really be a hard task for me. Now, I didn't eat rice for breakfast. Instead, I ate wholemeal diet bread. My lunch later would be apple and my dinner would be brown rice & salmon. I will do this diet as long as I can. Just hoping I can do this for a month. Well, my longest was for two weeks. How about you guys? Is there any particular goal that you really want to accomplish in your life? Did you succeed? Can you give me some advices & encouragements? Wish me luck!

I think you need to not avoid the things you crave. It would be better to give yourself a small amount of the foods you like than to avoid them altogether. It seems like if you try to stay away from them, you will feel guilty if you "fall off the wagon" by consuming them after avoiding them for as long as you can. You should eat a variety of foods and not just the same thing day in and day out. Are you eating any vegetables? You should eat more fruits as well. It would be better to go back to nature when eating than to eat processed foods. I don't know much about the wholemeal diet bread, but I think you would be better off eating some fruit and maybe an egg or something like that. You need to have a balance of all the food groups throughout the day. If you know that eating too many carbohydrates (bread, rice) makes you gain, then you should try to eat more fruits and vegetables, especially raw ones since they have the most nutrition. I have pretty much given up on dieting mostly because it is not good for you to not have a balanced healthy diet. I haven't worried much about my weight over the recent past because although I'm a little overweight, my other health problems made it so the doctors didn't want me to lose weight. Now that I'm done with chemotherapy, I will be able to consider eating a healthier diet and getting some exercise as my body allows. I hope you are able to succeed! Have a great week!!!

I think it is odd that you would have to avoid raw veggies. Are you able to eat fruits? If you eat chocolate, I would just make it a small amount just to give yourself the treat. Don't go overboard! I know that is probably hard, but too much is not a good thing, especially if trying to lose weight. I am doing ok, but right now I am getting ready to have a CT to see if the problem with a cyst has gotten better in the last two weeks and if not they want to see if they can get into it to drain it. I have still been tired and have been having shortness of breath, but they think that it is related to the chemo since they ruled out any kind of heart or lung problem.

Yes, it is bad because some of them are goitrogens. And most of them are my favorites. "Goitrogens are naturally occurring substances in certain foods that interfere with the production of thyroid hormones (the hormones that people with hypothyroidism lack). They include some of the most commonly consumed foods of the health-conscious community: broccoli, cauliflower, kale, spinach, radishes, soybeans, peanuts, pine nuts, peaches and millet. The good news is that many health professionals believe that cooking may inactivate goitrogens." Read more: http://www.herbcompanion.com/cooking/Smart-foods-for-hypothyroidism.aspx#ixzz1ST1fUYl9 Hope you'll get better after CT.

Thanks! Actually, egg & chicken are included on my diet list. About the raw veggies, I love to eat them. Especially green salad. But unfortunately, I can't eat them raw and trying to avoid them even when they're cooked. Being hypothyroid, lots of veggies should be avoided. Although they're full of benefits, they won't benefit my thyroid. That's why I limit the foods I eat. I love to eat steamed brocolli but it should also be avoided. Anyways, I'll try to have some of those that I crave. Oh, can't wait to eat a bar of chocolate! You too friend should take care.. Hope you're all better now after the chemo.

Yes, it's quite expensive here too. But I won't be eating that much so it's okay. I cooked lots today though. I'll just eat them again tomorrow.

I prefer to eat those foods that are for diet. When I eat rice, I get tempted to eat again until I get super full that's why I seldom eat rice when I'm on a diet. But I had a brown rice dinner today. They say it's better than the white rice.

I made a full life style change. Though I was not big to begin with I use to be a terrible roller coaster dieter. I use to starve to be thin. My son actually was my mentor in assuring I stopped the crazy dieting. So 3 years ago he and I went to buy a really nice home bicycle which has Jillian Michaels voice which controls the pedals so I can't cheat. Along with daily exercising, my son encouraged me to drink water. I never drank water in my life until 3 years ago and now I do not drink sugar juices and or colas at all. I drink almost a gallon of water daily. My son said mom if you go to a gym it will take you 30 mins to get there and 30mins to come home. So do one hour at home. I began eating healthy, drinking water and one hour on the bike Mon through Friday. I lost 70pounds in four months and am very thin. I actually had to stop the 5 days and now only do half hour a day for 3 days a week for cardio and for 3 years kept them off, eat normally, but healthy, still drink water and my metabolism is high. Therefore, this goal I set out to achieve, I achieved. As my son said to me, it is a life changing decision one has to make and he is right.

Thank you for your comment. Yes I remember in the past where I use to easily loose weight but because I never stuck to a consistent dieting plan I easily gained it all back. So am very happy and continually remember how I started so that I can continue the same path.

In all honesty, I never thought it was possible which is why I use to starve and fad diet. But it is possible, try and set your mind that you can do it, it does not have to be a bike as you can jog and or go for walks. The idea is to start out slow and always remember your objective and consistency is the key. Best of luck.

I have been doing vigorous exercise the past 2 months, for 1 hour every other day, after work. My supper would really be only a few spoonful of rice and viand. So far, my tummy ( my target area) has already flattened a bit. In fact, my pants have already loosened up. Good luck, my friend. Just be determined to do them. You can do it.

Wow, I want to loosen up my jeans too! You know before, all my tees are medium-sized. Now, they're becoming large-sized! That's so depressing my friend. I will try to make this diet longer so I can wear my medium tees again.

I don't need to lose weight, but I do need to do weight training. My goal is to do aerobics exercises plus weight training at least 3x per week, but that for me is so difficult. I also would like to eat less junk food and more healthy food, like japanese food. I will start to do that after the end of my vacation! Good luck to you too! :)

I don't know any tips, I am sux at dieting. I just can't help it, my mom always cook something awesome whenever I eat less. I totally think it's awesome that you can go on a diet. Since instead of dieting, I tried burning more calories. Do something that can burn what I eat.

Hi adnileb: I wish you the best luck. Don't give up. I also sometimes go on a diet when I think I need it. And in my personal experience I've seen that discipline is the key to have the best results. You just need to focus on your goals and you'll do it. ALVARO

No, I don't do diet plans. I don't think I can stick to it for long. I eat whatever I want and whenever I want, but I'm not overweight. I do take rice for breakfast sometimes and once in a while I skip lunch, but not always. I know it is a difficult task to be on a diet plan. Keep it up, girl. I know you can do it.

How I envy those who aren't overweight. I mean those who eat whatever and whenever they want and still don't gain weight. I just wish I'm not hypothyroid. Thanks for the encouragement jlyn. It's really hard to be on a diet especially when you see other people eating your favorite junk food or pizza and everything. *sigh*

I have started a diet and I am still on it for the past month and a half so I hope I can keep it up as long as possible. So far I am succeeding in keeping on my diet but I always have cravings to eat some candy or something. The only word of advice is to try to keep your mind off of food, try to keep your self occupied. Right now it is summer and I can go by my own schedule so if I feel hungry I either log on my computer or just go to sleep if I have no plans for the day. Maybe put sticky notes in you kitchen saying "REMEMBER YOUR DIET". Best of luck to you!

Ohh diet is one thing I can never stick to!! I have had 2 failed diets this year so far i get so bad cravings that I end up eating what I want to!! I'm thinking of starting a diet again but not so soon I guess hahah!! Anyway good luck for your diet. I know you can do it Just try and stick to it for 21 days coz people say if you do something for 21 days, it turns into a habit and it's not so difficult after that. Good luck

Hello adnileb, Its not necessary that to loose wait you need to starve yourself what is important is to do lot of physical work like jogging, skipping rope, cycling, swimming and many more which a gym trainer would tell you better and with that eat healthy food. This is myth that people loose wait just by controlling diet.

Thanks! Yes,exercise is one of the major keys to losing weight. I do some brisk walks some time of the week when going to office but walking doesn't help me that much. I need to do extreme exercises which I can't actually do because of time constraints. Going home late is the problem that's why I'm taking the first step through dieting. Though I've been doing this diet thing long ago, I never succeeded.

For starters, I hope you are on Synthroid for your thyroid condition. Having a Thyroid condition makes it hard to loose weight. Now, I am a diabetic and I cannot eat rice or any other carb. So I found it easy to loose weight just staying away from all carbs. However, I do have to offset all that protein with vegetables. It seems to work for me. Maybe you could try that instead of eating bread and rice or carbs in general. I do not eat any cake or candy either because of the sugar. Sugar in itself is a carb and causes weight gain. Whatever diet you do, you need to exercise along with it. Hope this helps.

I am taking euthyrox (levothyroxine). Is synthroid better? The foods I eat now are more on fiber. Brown rice, wheat bread and apple. I am going to eat egg and wheat bread for my lunch today. When I get hungry, I have spare apples here. But I usually eat raisins and nuts for my in-between snacks. As for the exercise, I am planning to do it in two weeks so my tummy is all set by that time and maybe won't be easily hungered. I planned to jog tomorrow but my period just came and I am having dysmennorhea now. It really hurts me. Hope you'll get better from your diabetes. Just keep it up on avoiding sweets.

The longest you implemented your diet was 2 weeks? I have to commend you for that.It is not always easy to change a habit , especially eating habit. I planned to go on an excercise that will flatten my stomach, that was 2 months ago, but I am yet to take the first step. I will always come up with excuses on why I have not started, it will either be that am to busy with work or I don't have the necessary tools. but in reality it was a question of me struggling to change my routine. So far well done to you and keep it up. You have just given me the boost to start.

Wow, thank you.. There are really lots of excuses when you don't want to do something. But looking on the positive side, something will change that will lead you doing what you don't want. Now, I'm craving for pizza and ice cream. But I was thinking brown rice and salmon for dinner later is good. Oh, my tummy is grumbling. Hope you can start yours too and update me if you succeed. Good luck to you too and welcome to mylot!
