getting frustrated with firefox

Lately Firefox has been freezing on me and it is getting annoying. I have run virus scans, cleaned out the cache, and even updated the plugins. Is anyone else having issues with firefox? I am not sure how many of my ptc sites will accept chrome as a web browser. So I downloaded it just as a backup. If anyone has any other suggestions as to how to fix this problem, please let me know

Have ya'll tried 'rebooting your internet connection at the modem ? One of the techs told me that every so often the internet connection becomes clogged up with so much stuff on it, that if you reboot it and start fresh you have a better connection ! I do this to mine when it starts getting like this, and start from the very beginning and start everything fresh !

I agree, I used to love Firefox but as soon as the newest version came out it slowed down my computer. I checked to make sure everything was working right on my computer - clean cache, no viruses or trojans, no unnecessary plug-ins. It is just this newest version that is the problem. I wish I could go back to the previous version. Mozilla needs to take a close look at this and fix it.

Do you have too many plugins? They will slow down firefox, or some plugins will even cause some problems.

Firefox has always been exceptional compared to other browsers, the crash usually happens if you have an add-on that's not compatible with the firefox version that you currently have. I would suggest to check the compatibility of your add-ons and also, there's this recent issue with the previous version of the Flash player, it really freezes firefox. I would suggest to do an update on both Firefox and flash just to be sure.

For me it was an AVG Safe-Search plugin to check links that was the problem. As soon as I disabled that then Firefox behaved itself. As said above, disable all add-ons and see if that helps then if Firefox works ok add in the plug-ins one by one till it crashes again.

I completely agree with you. I have completely stopped using Firefox for the same reason. You just log on to any website, and you are sure to find some part of the website showing a Firefox message saying 'Plugin required. Please download'. It is very frustrating which is very unlike any other web browser which I have used. I would advise you to switch to IE or Chrome. Personally, for me, Chrome is the best.

Humm install the latest browser of Firefox make sure you have the latest Shortwave player and flash player installed in your PC and the latest version of Firefox with your current Firefox uninstall it and replace it with the latest version, iam sure it will work for you the best, Dont worry Firefox is the best browser you can trust on it, also make sure you have your PC free with virus.

What version are you running? Sometimes firefox works best if you limit the number of plugins you use. In other words only run the basic ones, such as flash and frameware. Those should help you use firefox a bit more effectivly. Firefix isn't very strong, so you're bound to encounter errors. I deal with the crashes too, but I'm kind of stuck with one browser and don't have the options like you do. Sure I have chrome, but I use it mainly to watch videos on youtube, or do a voice search when I need to. Chrome is just like any other browser. It's just not screen reader friendly. But, I don't think you'll have a problem if you don't use a screen reader like I do. Pretty much any site should load on it easy enough, and work just fine for you. Simply, if not sure just give it a try. You've got nothing to loose.

I rarely use firefox now since the first day I installed the latest version of it. I am not happy with it, there is always something wrong here and there so I am using back the older version but they always asked to download the latest of this and that plug-in whenever I get in any sites. It getting annoying so I just use it for certain days only, now use Chrome more than Firefox.

Have you tried running a clean uninstall-reinstall of firefox? There might be internal problems with your current installation which cannot be detected by scans. I still prefer firefox over chrome since I have an old laptop and chrome is kinda heavy.

Hi sdmoonchild! Sometimes plugins causes this problems. Sometimes a plugin becomes unresponsive so the browser freezes. Even updating plugins doesn't work and most especially if you have too much of it installed. I also have this problem before so I uninstalled some plugins and it quite worked for me.
