im trying to decide if i should get one...if i do it'll be on my sholder-a small one, just under my bra strap or something. Im kinda psycing myself out by telling myself that it'll hurt like hell...my brother told me it does hurt but more on tender places then anywhere else. I do know and am aware that as i get older it wont look too pleasent to look at. I told my mom and she fliped! she was like saying 'meja dont mess up the skin GOD gave u' and i was like mom im not messing it up im giving it some bling bling!
so my question to all u tatoo-ers is this what was ur 1st experience like? were u drunk or in lala land or what?!

I was 18 when I got my first, and now being 21 I have three. I was stone cold sober for every single one I got.
I think that getting a tattoo is a very personal decision (a.k.a. don't put too much stock into what your mom says lol), and if you get something that truly means something to you then you'll never really regret it.
Also, this probably won't help you, but they don't hurt that bad. Even my foot and wrist which are notorious for being some of the most painful spots didn't hurt so bad that they made me cry or anything.

the stigma is over-rated. I live in a so called upper class neighbor hood, and I like to show my ink off, because I am very proud of it, the artist, and the meaning, but man oh man, my kid goes to school with a Mohawk he wanted, and mommy comes and drops him off and picks him up the looks I get from all the moms is epic.
My feet killed, but not hurt necessarily, but I twitched a lot. My wrists I hardly felt at all.

I don't have any tattoo. There are henna tattoos too that are not permanent. But listen your mom, maybe she is right.

I have 7 tattoos right now, and becoming a tattoo collector, as well as hopefully a tattoo artist in the near future. Where you want to get it done is not to bad at all. The worst for me so fat were my feet, but I never learn, I have both done but both incomplete, so more to go. I usually go and get several additions in one sitting, but that is me. They can be very addicting because the pain that it gives, and really I would not use the word as pain, its exhilarating in my eyes. Good luck, my mom finally agrees with the work I have gotten done. 1.) because they all have meaning 2.) they are amazing quality, so make sure you do your research on artists and shops before you book the appointment. Best of luck!
