Dear myLotters friend what do you think is internet really a good thing...? Or a worsest thing ever...? All of us know there are some advantages and some disadvantages of internet. So let me tell how i am facing these advantages and disadvantages. I am a student and i have my expenses but no time for doing a part time job. But internet have solved my problem. I used to work here with the comfort of my home and earn a decent amount per month for my expenses. This is the biggest advantage i am having of internet. There are some more advantages which i have through it except earning from my home. That are, previously i used to smoke a lot because almost all of the time i used to hang out wid my buddies. There was no time that when will i be back to home. Used to hang out a lot. But from the time being i have started working on net. I have almost left my smoking because i never go out for outing. It's a very rare case when i opt for outing now. So i guess these are really a good advantages for my life. As i am getting serious towards my career and atleast i started earning. If not a big amount but atleast a decent amount. So now i come to the disadvantages of internet. As i told you previously i used to hang out a lot but now i rarely opt for it. So is it a good sign...? I mean just sitting besides my PC and working whole day n whole night and don't even bother what's going on outside my home. No interaction with anybody just me any my PC. My whole routine has been changed, i don't even have time for having my lunch and dinner. I sleep late at night or you can say other day early in the morning. So aren't they disadvantages of my life...? And these are also just because of internet. So what do you all think is internet really a good thing to opt...? Or not...?

Hi ankit_sharma!
I think your question doesn't only suitable for internet but for many things around us as well. Usually being something good or bad depends on our choice. If we decide to use it for good then it will bring good results but bad things if we abuse it. I guess it's how we manage or balance something because too much or too less of something isn't good. So you might give yourself a dayoff from work or a daily break. It's good that your earning online but I hope you won't have to use that for your medical bills.
Just try to balance yourself. I suggest that you create a daily schedule when you will have break to eat lunch or dinner and when you'll have a dayoff to hangout. It's wonderful that you'r earning online but just don't overdo it because our body has also its limits.

It would really depend upon how you use it. Internet for you is a source of income. But don't let the internet control your life. Find time to go out and socialize with your friends. Try to get enough sleep and don't skip meals. There is no use earning a decent income from the internet if you would end up getting sick. It would surely cost you more.

The Internet is just a thing as far as I am concerned. There are a lot of good elements to it but many bad elements for it. There are really a lot of people who can use the Internet for the best things that they really can. Then there are times where people use them for a lot of bad things, where there are a lot of times where people use it too much for their own good.
So the Internet is what it is. Then again, its not too much different from the real world. The real world with all of the crime, the hatred, the bad habits, and the suffering. I think that the real world has many more bad things than the Internet does. It does have good things as well. Therefore the Internet is rather a good thing if it is used in the right way, but not so good when people use it in a negative manner. Then again, you're going to have that with anything in life.

hi,
i think there's a good and bad things on every thing we do that is including surfing the internet.Think about every other thing that you do in life,i'm sure you can differentiate the good and bad things of it.
Internet gives us more freedom-imagine communicating with your friends and knowing people from around the world (eg. i'm responding to your question right now).It also gives us loads of information which in the old days can only be found in books etc. Some people make money from it.
Of course ,if we spend too much time in it until we lost contact with friends and families,it'll be bad.And then ,there's a lot of conman using spam email to con people (thats very bad). What if we end up becoming the victim?
Guess you should follow a strict routine by arranging time to surf and interacting with people.Everything must be in balance.

Obviously, internet is a good thing. Its just how the people use it , that makes it bad.
See, how internet can now give earnings to people who knows how to use a computer and internet? Long ago, when internet isn't yet discovered, we work the hard way just to have some extra money. Now , ,even teenagers can earn through the net should they want to.
It's nice to know that you have changed since you started earning online. At least now, you have lessened your smoking. Might as well eliminate it?
However, you should once in a while get up, to stretch and have some mobility. Most of all, eat your dinner and lunch. Or else , internet will make you sick.

Well, that depends! If you use it moderately, that is good. If not, that is too bad.
I think you use the internet too much. Though you do not smoke anymore, anyway that is a good news to you, but you lost many other activities. You should spend time with you friends, parens.... You should spend time for work-out. You have a lot to do except for using the internet. Enjoy the outside world.

Before she retired my mom worked as a reference librarian. She had to help readers find the information that they needed. These days we have the Internet and anything can be looked for in a few seconds. If the library was closed then the person in the past couldn't go and find the information needed. A laptop or a computer can be on 24 hours a day and can be used at anytime. It is very good for looking up train times and bus times last minute. In the past without Internent people had to use their phone. Now people can send emails and these can take a couple of seconds. In the past a letter from the UK to Australia took one week. My Lot is an excellent website and it shows the Internet can be very enjoyable and interesting. The Internet should not take over a person's life though. a disadvantace would be poor eyes if the print is small and strains the eyes. If a teenager doesn't do his homework because he is on the Internet playing games he will get into trouble.

personally I love the Internet because it provides so many distractions, and information that would be difficult to find otherwise as well as entertainment and even ways to make money. I suppose that makes it a good thing for me personally however it would be nice to exercise more than I do instead of sitting in front of the computer screen as much as I do but it is very difficult to pull myself away! Perhaps I need an ejection chair such as pilots have that shoots them out of the airplane if they need to escape quickly :-)

Browsing the Internet is like going to a battlefield where there's a safezone and a frontline, your weapon - knowledge. It doesn't matter whether you just stay in the safezone like facebook, checking your mail or any other social networking site and "Safe, legit sites" or if you are the frontliner where you engage in p2p and delve deep into some unknown website, having knowledge of what's safe and not online will keep your computer functional.
