I was just in the shower and I don't know why I do it, but I always do it twice. I am sure that I have read something or heard something somewhere that guys don't see why people do it twice so most of them only usually do it the once.
How many times do you wash your hair whilst in the shower?

Only once and not every time because shampooing dries out the hair. Unless my hair got real dirty or sweaty, just a simple rinse with a little conditioner is all I do. People who dye their hair know about this because the first couples days one shouldn't wash their hair because it will make their color fade out quicker..

Hi Humbug...Ah, so in a way it is like you wash your hair every day, except you do the double washing every other day.. By the way, great intro, I am sure you will get some interesting replies here, especially from ones who did not read all of your post..

I think it depends on the length of your hair and the shampoo you use. I happened to use some very good and rather bad shampoos. With a good shampoo it's enough for me to wash my hair ones, however a worse shampoo would require a second round too. Note that I have quite short hair. I needed to wash twice when I had longer hair.

HaHa, I used to do it only once in the shower too ! Until about a couple of months ago when I learnt that doing it two times is the way to go .. So nowadays, if I want to be sqeaky clean (or if i have gone a few days without a shower) i go for it twice, or if i feel relatively clean, a single quickie is enough !

I always prepare myself for the fun ahead. I allow the water to stream over my naked body running freely into every little nook and cranny before applying my hands and rubbing...... in the shampoo. I do it just the once but thoroughly. Every so often I apply conditioner but only because I share my house with women. I'd probably not buy it myself. Men do it once because they generally have less hair than women. That's my theory anyway.

oh my G humbug now I know I must be a dirty minded elderly as I was just gasping a bit at this doing it once or twice b u t then I read the rest of it and am still laughing. oh yes I only do it once. for one thing I have a slight sense of balance problem and in the shower I tend to hang onto a clutch bar so shampooing my hair once is sure enough to me as I want to get my hair clean, conditioned, then get the heck out of the shower before I have a third fall which would probably break my poor neck this time. lol. so no I only do it once.

Uhh, I guess that is not a general rule because my husband and sons all take 2 showers a day and sometimes one more depending on how much work they do or how hot they get in the summer. In the summer or when working outside, whatever they may take 3 that day.
I myself take 2 and I wash off myself twice each time. Then use a moisturizer when I'm done.
I think it depends on how they are brought up.

Well I guess my telling the boys when they were really young and did not wish to bathe as often as they should how there are bugs all over our bodies..yes, in our eyes, in our mouth, and on our body. I told them if they did not bathe enough they would allow those bugs to produce more bugs and to grow and they would then have a bigger problem. The looks on their faces were to die for. But it served the purpose I was looking for. They started bathing everyday and twice or more if need be.
I told them how bugs even eat on plaque in the mouth on their teeth and gums and how if they don't brush their teeth they still have those bugs in their mouth causing their breath to be much worse. That no one wants to smell the bad breath when they don't brush. Needless to say I have no problem getting them to bathe or didn't when they were younger and still do not. In fact, they get after the grandchildren about not bathing as they should.

Hey there moondancer
I think you are very lucky to have such clean guys living in your house hahahha. Mine are all still young and go on my guidance but on the whole they are pretty clean too. I have a friend though who is very clean herself but her 10 year old son stinks to high heaven and he is the same age as my eldest. I don't think she nags him enough!! hahaha
Thanks for your response

I am a female and I only wash my hair once. There really is no need to wash your hair twice. My sister is a hairdresser and I have asked her this question a few times over the years and she tells me if you wash it good you should only wash it once because you are actually do more harm drying out your scalp by washing it twice.
I don't know too many people anymore who wash their hair twice. The shampoos they sell on the retail market are really good now and you don't need to do it twice. Also it is a good idea to use cream rinse because it conditions the hair, especially needed if your washing it twice.
Just my friendly advice and opinion.

The only hairdresser I've ever been to is my sister and she only washes a person's hair once. I asked her earlier today after reading your comment, why only once, and she said if it's scrubbed properly it doesn't need to be done again. She says to make sure you scrub your scalp and especially around the edges of your scalp hair, especially at the back of your head where it reaches your neck and around the face.
Cheers, Chris

Hey there chrislotz
You're opinion and advice are more than welcome! I just find that sometimes when I wash my hair the first time it doesn't always feel really clean and so I do it again but with less shampoo. I was just wondering though, if your sister is a hairdresser and advises you to wash your hair only once as that should be surfice, why do hair salons always wash your hair like 3-4 times? hahahahhahaa
Cheers Chris

I'm sure there have been times that I've washed my hair twice while in the shower, but I definitely don't do so anymore. This is partially due to the fact that I don't really have time to spend all day in the shower lol. I don't wash my hair everyday anyway because it's not good for it, but I'm sure in the past I've used shampoos that have caused the need to rinse more than once. Fortunately, I now use a shampoo that I only have to use once in the shower and don't have to rinse more than once. I also don't have to wash my hair more than two or three times per week, which is great. In between washing my hair in the shower (the days I do not wash it), I actually have a dry shampoo that I can use on my hair so it doesn't get oily or anything. It's actually pretty cool! So no, I don't really see the need for shampooing more than once, but I guess it depends on what kind of products you are using lol.

I know I said I only shampoo once each time, but you're right. When it's been a few days between washings, I probably feel as though I need to run shampoo through it a couple times before getting it completely clean. So...I might do it a couple times here and there. I don't use as much shampoo as I would if I washed it every day anyway, so I'm still conserving. I also have these other products that are really nice between washings. One is a powder that I put on the palm of my hand and then work it into my roots. It acts as a root lifter, and whenever you want to thicken up your hair again, instead of putting on more, you just massage your head/roots again to stimulate the powder, and ta-da! It's root lifted again! Another product that I really like that I just started using is called "dry shampoo." I use that between washings so I don't have to go through getting my hair wet to wash and condition it. The dry shampoo actually sucks the oil right out of my hair so it doesn't get that nasty, oily look to it. These products are magic! They're by Big Sexy Hair, so I'm sure you could go to http://www.sexyhair.com/ to find everything I referred to.

Thanks for BR, Humbug! I hope the product info was helpful to you. I use at least one 'Big Sexy Hair' product each day whether or not I wash my hair, and I always think of this discussion when I do so. In fact, my hubby and I even went to the cosmetics and hair products supply store this past weekend to see if they had any new products or products that would interest us that we could use. He's been looking for 'Bed Head' sculpt or something that is like hair gel on steroids lol. It was like $20 per 2 oz. canister, which is a rip off, in my opinion, even though it's pretty good stuff. It wasn't worth that much to him, so he found some on eBay last night, and with shipping it was half the price of what they wanted in stores! So even if you like these products, you can probably find them cheaper somewhere else if you don't like the price they have in stores. I am all about saving money where I can! Thanks again, my friend!

I wash my hair twice. After I arrive at home, I just wash it with water to rinse off the styling clay, then I wash it again whenever I take a bath.

On the back of the shampoo bottles the directions say lather rinse and repeat. I used to do it for awhile when I was young and my told me thats for people who dont shower every day. If you do your hair doesnt get as dirty and doesnt need to be washed twice. My hair gets plenty clean just with one lather so I dont feel the needs to do it twice it would just waste extra shampoo.

I wash my hair once but thoroughly to remove dirts, I don't need to wash it again since my hair is short. I'm also using an anti-dandruff shampoo to make sure that my hair is clean and dandruff free.
