Me and my 3 boys are off camping tomorrow but we are not even packed yet. We have only just got unpacked from a recent trip to my mum's house and we are off again! When I packed to go to my mum's I packed the morning before we went in the evening hahaha. I remember my mum always packed last minute before we ever went somewhere on holiday when I was a kid! Hahahaha maybe it is in the genes hahahaha Do you pack last minute when you go on vacation or do you pack well in advance?

I always pack well in advance. In my mind!!! Actually the Boss usually packs for me because I always pack odd socks, creased shirts and forget ties etc. But not as bad as my dad who once flew home from the US with his trusty battered old brown suitcase. My mother unpacked it and was astonished to see that it was full of women's clothes! Fortunately for him the real owner rang to say that she had his suitace and could they swop. Which they did on the Berkshire Downs - all very cloak and dagger!

Happy camping. Our neighbours have just bought a camper van and are off too. Oh to be young again... and stay in 3/4/5 star hotels rather than under the stars!! LOL.

Hi ya p1kef1sh Yes I can imagine what a shock that must have been for your poor mother but at least there was an explanation for it hahaha. Well when we went down to Cornwall earlier this week I forgot to pack a jumper for one of my sons and forgot to takes coats completely, not because it is cold there of course but just in case of rain hahahaha and it did but only a bit hahaha Cheers p1key

I have to think and decide, but I do tend to pack pretty last minute. My roommate, on the other hand, had her suitcase pretty much packed 2 weeks before we went to England, and was bugging me to pack a month before our trip to Kansas... Well, I didn't finish painting the suitcases until a week before the trip, so she couldn't pack too early. I did an AWESOME job, by the way...

Yep, an umbrella, tho we only needed it one day. We also had her blind stick and my crutch... I wonder if that's why they let us board early and had carts for us to get around the airport... We mostly were about London, it was the roommate's first trip. But I had booked us a tour to Stonehenge, Avebury, Old Sarum and Salisbury... Stonehenge is where I used the umbrella, but it was nice at Avebury

That's cos we are a friendly and helpful bunch here in jolly ole England hahaha. The shame about Stonehenge is that you can't really get that close to the stones anymore can you? You will have to travel further down South next time you go hahahahahahaha

It depends on what is going on in my life at the time; I perfer to pre-pack in advance of my trip to be sure I do not forget anything. If I am busy with work, I do pack last minute (not my favorite way to do it, creates unnecessary stress). Packing makes a trip more real to me and is part of my personal preparation for leaving home for a much needed getaway.

I hope that you have a wonderful time together. No, I am not a a last minute person at all. I used to be before children. But having had 3 boys in just over three years and no diapers - only towel nappies- I had to be organised. I used to repack a baby bag as we reached home with an outfit of clothes and nappies etc and then when we left just grab milk, juice, water and snacks from fridge and move. Thanks for the memory

Hi ya cynthiann Oh boy yeah when the kids are really little it has to be a well oiled opperation hahahaha We used to go to Lebanon for a month when the boys were very small and that was honrendous, packing for three kids and the biggest kid of all, their dad. It was always my stuff that would get forgotten hahahaha as I am a women and mother you learn to live without though hahaha. Cheers hun and you are welcome to the trip down memory lane, I am just glad yours were more pleasureable than my own, those times were so stressful. Even though the boys are only now 6, 8 and 10 they are much easier especially without the pressures their father used to bring!!!!

I always pack last minute! That way my clothes won't get creased, but I do put stuff aside ready to be packed, but don't actually pack it, so I more or less have everything ready. I have a checklist too to make sure I have everything, so many times I have forgotten things, now I can just cross them off, guess being a boy scout didn't go to waste after all! Have a wonderful time, I love camping, I used to go to the Lake District to camp. Brilliant!

Hey wolfie As I am sure you can tell we are back already and boy did it go fast, I guess it is true what they say, time flies when you're having fun. I have just been looking on the internet to see if I can fit in another trip before the hols are over and I might just be able to do I think - I hope. Cheers wolfie

Oh how nice that you are going camping with them. That will be so much fun. We use to go every weekend but not anymore. I do a little of both when packing. I will start days ahead of time putting away clothes for daily and night wear. I put in all articles I can before going. I do add here and there more things as I think of something else to take. Then the last day I will put in my toothbrush, paste, hair brush, perfume, deodorant, etc. along with my medicines.

I prefer to pack in advance by a day or two so that I can add the last minute things that I didn't remember the first time. I also like to make a list ahead of time of things that I know I need to take. I hope that you and the boys have fun. I am ready to go camping too!!

Hi there carolscash I sometimes make a list but this time I just seemed to grab stuff and shove it all in the car. We didn't go very far from home so if we had forgotten something really really important then it would have been easy to go and get it. Also I camp with lots of other families so we always find what we need from another camper hahaha. Hope you have a good camping trip too Cheers carolscash

I think it's best to pack right at the last minute. I always packed the night before we left the next morning. I figure, when you do last minute packing, you are less likely to pack way too much. Even when packing at the last minute, I always packed more than we needed. I didn't get it from my Mom. We used to go on bus tours together. She's tell me weeks ahead she had her suitcase open on chairs and would put in something when she thought about it. Then she's have time to change her mind until the day we left.

Hi Barb42 Well maybe you got it from your dad then hahahahha. I think you are less likely to forget something if you pack last minute too. Cheers Barb

I pack in advanced. Usually when we went somewhere it was to visit family out of state. Now were in the same state, but still 8 hours away. I use to have to pack to visit family and go to Disneyland so we needed two weeks worth of stuff. Plus it took us two days to drive to visit. Even now that we live closer I still start packing a few days prior and the night before finish everything up.

Hi there tink91879 When I was younger I used to get so excited about going away that I used to pack about a week before leaving. These days I just find it easier to leave it til the last minute in case I need something I would normally pack. Cheers tink
