How did they do that?

So, last night the roommate and I were plotting how to work on the remodel of a shed to turn it into a craft space... We were in the office looking at the list of stuff we found at Lowe's to get an idea of how much it might be cost. Suddenly we heard a mighty CRASH in the kitchen! We dropped everything and ran into the kitchen to make sure no cats were hurt, tho we didn't hear any cat cries. I dashed into the kitchen and looked around. I didn't see anything. I went further in and saw the cat food bowl on the floor. Empty. The roommate had just filled it up! And where did those brats put the cat food? In the TRASH can! Happily, we had just dumped the trash and other roommate had just cleaned the can out, so we dumped the food out of the can, and out of the trash bag, so they're STUCK with the food! Do your cats every try to throw their food away?

Cat power can do many things... My guess is they were bored with just teleporting themselves and wanted to see if they could move something else. Watch out for more fun things...

Thar's a new one. Had you changed the brand of cat food recently. Our cat will eat the middle out of h is bowl of food and demand that it be filled again. Usually, I just push the food from the sides to the middle, and he will, as a rule, eat it. If he doesn't, I just ignore his requests for more food. It isn't as if he were underweight.

No, nothing new, I'm beginning to suspect one of the clumsy ones launched themselves and scared another clumsy one and somehow knocked it off. We have Daisy who will still stand in the bowl if its low, was funny when she was little, now its just silly!

Naw, mine just look at it disdainfully and want to know where the good stuff is. Heaven help me if they ever figure out how to throw stuff in the trash can!

HAHAHA! Do you have picky cats? I never had that happen, at at one point we had 6 cats in our home. I did have them break into the food bag, before it was opened! That is too funny.

I'm impressed, I suspect it took some time to get this cat food bowl off, maybe a few pushing it (its a pretty big bowl with a rubber ring that's supposed to stop slippage!)

I can't even imagine! That's soooo funny! Did you ever figure out HOW they did this? I actually think it's hysterical! Cats are such amazing little creatures, and I bet you have tons of stories, but this one is exceptional. Rissa's pretty smart, but she's not that smart, lol! I can't wait to see if this happens again. I love Barbara's comment, haha! Just to let you know I reported the one with the email address above.

Well, I know the mechanics of how it was done, the cat food is on a counter over the trash can, but we have a big bowl with slip resistant bottom, so I'm not sure how they got it to slip off

My goats regularly turn their food over whilst I'm milking, convinced that there's something better at the bottom. Of course, once it is on the floor they won't touch it. It drives me mental.

Not the whole bowl, usually, & never for being rambunctious. Minnie's just not a neat eater, so she's always shoving her food over the edges, & to the back, where she doesn't dig it out--that's too much work, doncha know--but lets it go stale. Okaay...That is odd...I must say I have seen my cats do funny things but they have never thrown their food away! My two are way too greedy to get rid of food. That must have been very amusing. My male cat Hewy made me laugh a few nights ago when he kept lightly touching his litter tray with his paw while looking straight at me and meowing; he wanted me to remove the poop in there so he could use it again as he hates a dirty litter tray; it was funny the only things missing in his expression were words! Love ‘em!

I've known cats to do some crazy things, but that's down right funny. I have cats who have to move or dig in the water bowl before they drink, but other than that they haven't had the ability to discard their food in the trash. Then again they'd have to move their food and while holding said food, open the cubord under the sink, and discard it. We keep our trash behind closed doors, because if they smell human food the can usually is on its side and the contents were spread all over the place. Most of the time left for George to clean up because I couldn't always find it all.

Oh how cute to hear this Elic and no I have not heard this where they actually throw their food away. Maybe they have observed others throwing things in the bin and caught on that way. Very funny for them to have done this.

If I had heard a cat fight, I'd've figured that was how it was done, but just a big "BAM"!!!

The only place they ever put their food was in their stomachs. If I had gotten them a food they didn't like, they just didn't eat it! They must not have liked it at all! How could they get the food into the trash?

we feed them on a counter top to keep the dogs out of the cat food, and some how they shoved it off the counter into the trash can that is in that part of the kitchen

haha I have never heard of a cat trying to throw away their own food! Have the cats been eating the food that you have given them? If your cats aren't eating their food, and they are trying to throw away the food you are giving them, maybe they are trying to give you a hint ;) hahahaha

I've feed them the same food for years, I don't know how they managed to get it off the counter into the trash tho...
