Just spent 30 minutes deleting friends

When I first joined mylot several years ago, I spent a lot of time reading posts and picking friends. I got so many, I had over 10 pages of friends. It got to the point I couldn't keep up with who did and did not post or spend time on mylots. I finally decided to delete everyone except a handful who I know post and discuss. Now, I'll be starting over again. Did you ever decide to "clean house" and get rid of the fluff just taking up space?

No, I do not take the time to clean them out. I delete one every once in a while, but some people go away and then come back and I sure would not want to miss them. Having those extra pages does not really bother me too much.

I don't really follow what my mylot friends do. It's a little bit of a hassle to keep following and replying to their posts. I don't accept friends invite also. I was just accepting friends before but I just don;t see the point anymore. That's great that you are doing that.

The more time you spend here, the more people you will know. Like a person who you keep discussing dogs with, or anime, or those you respond to with their problems and stuff, sooner or later you will know them and the next time they talk about their husbands or pets or the next anime they watched, you will want to be updated. That is what the friends list is for.

I've not really been active much recently, however I do read all the posts (some from e-mails), which my friends start, and try to respond to some of them.
I can understand that I will be deleted sometimes because of this.
It's funny really because I retired from work (nearly 2 years ago now - doesn't time fly), and thought I would have more time to spend here, but actually it the reverse. In fact I don't know how I ever had time to do work in the first place.

I almost did that one time and then a friend came back after being "gone" for 2 years. Then, I myself became ill and was gone for almost a year. No, I just let the friends accumulate. Better to have folks there that are not really there, than to have someone who has been ill come back and find that no one cared enough to wait for them.

Good point. I just got overwhelmed by too many pages of "friends".

i do that sometimes, now i learn not to add many people unless i know i am going to keep up with them, i have a few friends on my list and that's it.
cleaning out your so called friend list is a good practice, cause sometimes we accept friend request just to accept them or because we like the person but never have a great interest in communicating with them.

Since I'm new here, I haven't got any friends yet. But ... I did for my Facebook account. = = Sometimes having too many online friends who aren't really close to you who are able to read your posts regularly can be a hassle. And it's hard to keep track of people who are really important just because other people's notifications are flooding your news feed. D:

I have went through and deleted friends that have not logged in for months. I have not just gone through and deleted friends for not posting much. It took a long time to do, but it cleared out a lot.

I miss seeing posts from a lot of the old timers that have given up for one reason or another. It has been a really long time since I have went through my friends at all, my time on the computer has been slacking a lot in the last couple of years.

I'm not going to delete someone just because they haven't posted in awhile...I go in spurts and just spend time reading posts sometimes. Did I say that by mistake? I really meant those who haven't even logged on in several months. I need to proofread what I write.

I have never deleted any friends off mylot even if they are no longer active. I also have the notifications turned on for all my friends so if anyone starts a new discussion it will come to my email inbox and tell me. I love it because then I am aware of discussions that I might not notice if I was just browsing through mylot.

I had most of my friends turned on, and for a time I wasn't getting any email notifications. Must have been a glitch. That's what made me look at my list and decide to delete some.

It's a good practice. They are friends after all, not general associations. I have some friends in my list that have only posted once or have not posted at all. This is a case where I should probably do some cleaning. I believe it depends on how many friends you have and how you treat your myLot friends list. :)
