Technology, computers, mechanism has taken over our world and with all of this modernization that has been going on, we have sometimes taken for granted our mother nature. This world has become unhealthy and there are only a few people who has taken action to keep our own world healthy.
IN our own persons, we should also take party in making sure that not only the world but also our own bodies are kept healthy. Even though we live in an unhealthy world right now, with the pollution, and all the garbage that is distributed from different aspects everywhere, everyday.
I make sure that I keep myself healthy by having a good diet, keeping away from second hand smoke and vehicle pollution, the changing weather and all of those stuff that may be unexpected but at least we should know how to protect ourselves.
How about you mylotters, what can you do?

I run 2 to 4 miles per day, ride my bike dailey when weather allows. I feed my family a healthy diet with no red meats or faty meats(no beef, pork, etc.). We don't have cable so I hardly ever watch tv. I limit how often I have to go into town. We also grow or get as much produce from my parent's farm so I know it isn't sprayed with anything harmful to my family. My husband , kids, and I spend a lot of time outside and go hiking and for walks in the woods. We would rather be outside then inside.

Its really good that we should have an everyday ritual to keep our bodies healthy. You have good tips for everyday that one can do to keep up with this unhealthy world that we are living in. Farm food that is so great, I live in the city so I don't get the usual chance to eat organic foods.

Well there are food markets or street markets that also offer organic foods here in the city but hey they are costly because of course it had to be shipped and grew fresh from the province. So I would usually go for what is available and affordable for the family. Thanks though!

Do you have a farmer's market? You can get nice produce there and a lot of times it is grown organic. You can grow patio tomatoes, or strawberries in a pot. They take up very little room. You could also grow your own herbs in a window box or small pot in your window. There are so many small things you can do to eat better while living in the city. Good luck to you!

I agree with your statements that nowadays, living in a modern world requires us to be flexible enough so that we can avoid different illnesses caused by different pollutions we have in our environment. Well I guess for us to avoid those illnesses we should not forget to take care of ourselves by eating a balance diet, take vitamins that can boost our immune system. Also, a simple 10-15 minutes of walk may also do as a simple exercise.
We should be thankful for the modernization that our technologies brought to us. It makes our life more easier to accomplish task but sometimes modernization leads us human tend to forget that the most important above all is our health. So we should not forget to take care of it. Happy mylotting to everyone!

Yes simple walks and exercise can go a long way. Because of the modern technologies, like now we just tend to sit in front of our computers or lie down using ipods and what not. It does not help us exercise, only our mind is working but our body seems lazy to move around.
Balanced diet, check! Exercise, check! Vitamins, check!

Pollution is in cities and towns. It is better to live in the countryside to get fresh air or near the ocean to get sea air. It is great to eat a healthy diet and I am a vegan. It is relaxing to have pets and I have two miniature poodle dogs. I think that walking by the sea and strolling in the countryside are healthy exercise. It is wise to get enough sunshine but not to get sun burnt on a hot day. I like to take vitamin pills like Iron, Vitamin B12, Omega and one a day for vegans.

I dont think I can be a vegan but I admire you and all others who are, because of the high discipline that you impose upon yourselves which is something not achievable but just abut anyone. Multivitamins are also important on top of the fruits and vegetables our parents taught us to eat since we were young.

yes, it is quite difficult to keep our health in an unhealthy world. however, we can do some things to minimize the hazards and threats to our health. at least we know that we should be extra careful in our activities to stay away from unhealthy ways. i do not smoke, but there are smokers all over. i am glad that it is now prohibited to smoke in public places. but the pollution is hard to evade. to compensate, i keep myself clean and take a bath after being out during the day.

Hi. You can stay healthy if you choose the right food, do your exercise and rid of vices. It's all in you.

It can be difficult to live
healthy in an unhealthy
world. Everywhere you
look there are unhealthy
options, and people
touting quick cures for
health problems that do
not require time or
commitment. Unhealthy
lifestyles seem to be the
big thing. However,
health is not something
you can buy, and it is not
easily recovered if lost.
So, learning to live
healthy in an unhealthy
world should be a goal.
Here are a few tips:
Get a support system in
place. It is far easier to
be healthy when you
have a support system in
place. Finding a group of
friends to exercise with
each day, or having your
roommates, family, or
spouse committed to
healthier eating with
you, etc. When you have
a support system in
place, you have someone
to encourage you when
you get discouraged, and
you don't have people
close to you tempting
you to not do the things
you want to do for a
healthier existence.
Get educated. The more
you know about health,
the easier it is to make
healthy choices. Take the
time to educate yourself
about what you can do in
your personal life to be
healthier. For example,
maybe you work in an
office building with an
elevator, you could take
the stairs instead to be
healthier. If you have to
eat out for lunch, you
can educate yourself
about what is the
healthiest option at your
local food places, or
educate yourself in ways
to make basic options
healthier. Learn about
metabolic function, the
benefits of exercise, how
to reduce and eliminate
stress, etc. The more you
know, the easier it is.
Take the simple steps
first. Doing things like
adding more water to
your daily intake, and
getting more rest are far
easier than trying to
force yourself to the gym
each day, so start with
the smaller things, and
work your way up to the
bigger. You can't expect
for your whole life to
change over night, as
that takes a big
commitment, so commit
yourself, and adjust as
necessary to help
yourself stick to it. It is
good to write out what
changes you should make
in your life for a
healthier you, and then
look for ways to
incorporate them into
your daily routine. For
example, if you do not
feel you have a lot of
time for exercise, look
for ways to add it in,
park further away from
work, run up the stairs to
your apartment instead
of walking, do crunches
while you watch
television, etc.

I don't think there is any way we can keep ourselves completely away from harmful things any more because there are too many everywhere. Pollution in the water, pollution in the air, too many electromagnetic fields and all sorts of high frequency waves in the air and in our bodies. Food is no longer nutritious as it naturally is unless you can afford to eat totally organic. Simple things like shampoo are laced with dangerous chemicals.
The best we can do is not always enough, but we can keep trying. As you said, eat well, stay away from the pollution that you can. Also, drink enough clean water, get enough sleep and get enough exercise.

I don't know how to stay healthy in an unhealthy world, except try to eat right, sleep well, and exercise. For me, all these modernization we have today like computer, technology and automation are not consider as hazard to my health, it is the second hand smoke, pollutant from our energy industry, car and airplane, noises from factory and warehouses that are the real health risk i need to deal with effectively before my health-being can be destroyed totally. I may not be able to avoid all these unhealthy environment elements around me, as long as i live within a city or metropolitan perimeter, the most i can do is to reduce the adverse effect and minimize them to less hazardous risk factor but not eliminate them completely through the above method or move to a place far away from the city life in this unhealthy world.

Yup, I also try my best to have a good sleep everyday, balanced diet and a little bit of jogging to keep me firm and healthy. Everything I think is hazardous to health and we have to do our best to keep ourselves healthy. THere are extraneous variables and other factors that may affect our everyday health, but if we keep ourselves educated, we may be able to protect ourselves from the harmful poisons in our everyday life.
