I think because girls really want to look presentable especially on their work or profession.Make up also enhances our beauty and assets.Usually Girls really want to feel and look good about their self that will help boost their self esteem.

Basically to enhance our looks. Who would wear makeup to make themselves look uglier, right? I mean apart from clowns. But if you're asking for the reason behind that, it's because I want to like what I see when I look in the mirror. This in the sense that if I want other people to look at me and not be repulsed I need to be able to look at myself first and like what I see.

I wouldn't say it contributes to it, really. I mean, If your reason for putting makeup on is because you think you're ugly and you think of makeup as more like a mask than something to enhance your features, then I'd say you have low self esteem to begin with. But if you're putting makeup on just to enhance what's already there that's more a show of self respect and, on the contrary, high self-esteem, don't you think?

I guess because girls want to look presentable and beautiful all the time. Most of us do not have a perfect face and make up either highlight our best assets or improve our not so impressive assets. Make up can make our eyes, lips, brows and lashes look more beautiful.
