Dirty Dancing is an iconic movie of the times. How can they remake it with new characters? That movie brought Patrick Swayze to the forefront of eve ryone's attention as a dancer and actor. They can make a dance movie with any number of talented dancers, but they can't replace Patrick Swayze!

Okay so first up I think remaking “Dirty Dancing” is a terrible idea, it maybe cheesy but it has earned its place in cinema’s history and into the hearts of many.
But with my business head on I can actually see why they plan to remake it as it makes great business sense. Even if it turns out to be terrible there will be loads of people turning out to watch it out of curiosity and if it’s disliked it will still have turned a profit. On the back of that they can also promote the original and will see sales of the DVD and soundtrack increase.
So it does make business sense and as the movie industry is now run by accountants rather than those who are passionate about making quality entertainment it is little surprise that they have chosen this.
Interestingly I did hear that this was not going to be a direct remake but more of a re-imagining with the storyline brought up to the present and with it featuring hip-hop and street dance, which to be honest sounds just like a variety of movies which came out a few years ago such as “Honey” and “Save the Last Dance”.

They may do ok, but those of us that seen the other, and loved it, it will not compare. To the younger generation, may like it.

Yes sure they can't. The original actor is always the best. And the old versions of movies seems to be more meaningful than the more modern remakes. There will be other good actors nowadays too but it surely will not be the same. Patrick Swayze will still always be a legend for that movie. And would like to watch the remake of that movie.

This crazy! Dirty dancing is ike the BEST BEST dance movie ever made in my opinion- its what got me into different forms of dance, like swing dancing and latin dancing- which can get quite dirty and I still want to learnt the dance to 'I have the time of my life' but i havent found someone worthy to dance that sound with plus my husband doesnt dance- the one thing I wished he did!

Patrick Swayze is an icon, if they remake this movie, they should make it as good as the original or not make it at all. If fans get disappointed with the movie, then that would be a real shame.

I think hollywood has lost their grounds on creativity and originality or they totally lost it. I wish they would make another classic not recreate an old one.

It´s a pity if they try to do a remake of Dirty Dancing. The movie is not only an awesome movie as dancing goes, but it pictures a whole era. Whatever they do, it will be a poor imitation of the original.

In my opinion, nothing will ever beat the original. Patrick Swayze is just irreplaceable. However, I will definitely be watching this, and don't mind that they are making a new one. Although if I compare it to the old one, I'm bound to be disappointed, which is why I'll be viewing it as an entirely new movie all together. One that gives me fuzzy warm memories of the movie I happen to love so much. Who knows, maybe it will actually surprise me and be really good! We'll see.
