I've never made pasta, it seems so much easier to buy ready made pasta in packets and boil it.
Usually I make the pasta sauce to go with it, I have occasionally bought a pasta sauce but I usually make it myself as it is nice to have at least part of the meal home made.
Do you make pasta? It looks like you need a machine to make noodles. Gnocci and Ravioli look like you don't need a machine though.
What about the sauce?

don't you ever make sauce? It is really easy to make a tomato base pasta sauce. Last night we just had ricotta ravioli (which my mum bought for me) with a tomato sauce I made simply by using a tin of crushed tomatoes, mushrooms, zucchini, garlic and mixed herbs and chilli - If I was having a plain pasta like spaghetti - I could add lentils and broccoli to my pasta sauce.

I tried making homemade sauce once and it was terrible. It was too runny and I didn't like the taste. I think I just need to find a better recipe.
I had my own pasta machine that someone bought me years ago. I remember it took forever for the pasta to come out and getting the right texture was a challenge too.

I do make regular egg noodles. I do have a pasta machine however, it only works well to just flatten out the dough and cut it into egg noodle size noodles. The thin noodles don't cut very well in the machine.
I have thought about making my own ravioli it looks simple; I hope to try this in winter when we have more time for cooking. I think all you need is to make the dough thin enough if possible by hand with a rolling pin.
I've never made sauce from scratch added to an already prepared sauce though.
