Yesterday my friend Mark had to put his Basset Hound down! Maggie was 14 and she had not been doing well the past week. Mark and his family had her since she was 8 weeks old! It kind of reminded me of the movie "Marley and Me". MAggie had a good long life and she will be missed! Mark was pretty upset yesterday and it is understandable.

My friend Mark said the family won't be getting another dog in the future. I have a feeling that will change! Once the mourning for Maggie is over they will reconsider!

Putting his dear dog down must have been a painful thing. I remember one of my friend was totally devastated and down when her dear dog had to be put down. She was crying and like your friend, she had her dog since she was a kid too. It's sad and hope they are free of their pain in heaven.

That's so sad! It sounds like Maggie had a wonderful life and a long one too. Mark should hold on to the memories and know that Maggie is now on the Rainbow Bridge. It's really hard losing pets that we have had for so long. Sending my best to Mark and his family. Take care!

Yes dogs are loyal friends! I could not help think about the movie :Marley and Me"! I had seen it just the week before! It isn't easy losing a pet and for me either when I lost my horse! Two years ago I had to put my horse,Major, down at age 31! I had him since he was 4! Not many people can say they had a horse or any other pet that long!

I know the feeling. 3 years ago we had to put our cat Frisky to sleep. We had him for about 17 years. He was really part of the family. I remember during Thanksgiving time my wife used to boil the gizard parts, you know the stuff that inside that turkey that's usually in a small bag. He used to love it. Plus he was my alarm clock in the morning when he jump on the bed and wake me up. People tend to forget that animals are GOD's creation also!

My friend Frank had a basset named Maggie. They are certainly unique characters. My condolences to your friend...
