Do you know what a water reclamation plant is?

It's a fancy name for a plant that will take sewage/waste water and turn it into safe and clean drinking water. Hmmm... sounds great right? In Texas, which is facing the worst drought in its history, it is becoming necessary. I live in Texas so this is close to home, but...I never liked drinking water anyway. I buy my water and it is usually carbonated water. But we use water to bathe in, to wash our clothes and dishes and to cook with. What do you think about this? The water will go through several stages of purification to make it safe, but could you get past the knowledge of what it is? http://www.thedenverchannel.com/health/28843973/detail.html?treets=den&tid=2658815713813&tml=den_irr&tmi=den_irr_1_01000108122011&ts=H

ALL water has been around forever and been taken in and out of bodies, human or other, since that time. Even bought water came from some place and, at the very least, was processed once by a dinosaur...

@bookbar very true, Austin is lucky that it is the first large city on the Texas Colorado River.

So very true, unfortunately some 'city' water can taste as though it's been through a few thousand bodies already..

The most simple of septic tank designs can produce drinking water at the output end. It really isn't anything to worry about. I once lived in a place where tadpoles regularly came out of the tap. They proved that the water was pure. A few bugs never harmed anyone - they improve your immune system and make you healthier.

I think I could stand the things I couldn't see but not if my water had tadpoles in it I had to pick out. Creepy. LOL

it is rumoured that every drop of water drunk in London has been filtered through 7 sets of kidneys, so this can't be any worse. I'm lucky in that where I live we get a lot of rain, but still have treatment plants for sewage (although I think the cleansed water is then released into rivers). Think of the poor astronauts who recycle all their waste materials (not just urine). They don't seem to suffer too much. If the water is purified through several stages then it should be drinkable.

You're right. And I've seen those outdoors shows where the guy drinks his own urine in a pinch. Besides...all rivers and lakes have animals wandering through and drinking and bugs and fish, etc. and we don't worry about that. Just a weird mind picture that is bothering some people, to be drinking waste water.

It's not built yet, but in the planning stages. It will be in Big Spring, Texas.

@henkiprananda It's not a natural growing plant, but man-made and under construction...
