It's not working

It's 3 weeks now since I have started to eat my meals without rice. If you are a Filipino, you would know that it's very unusual for us because we have rice with every meal. Rice is what makes a meal complete and without it, it feels like were just having a snack. Well, at least for me that's how it feels.
I checked the weighing scale yesterday and it showed no difference which frustrates me a bit but not enough to discourage me from my diet. I'm keeping it up and I'm staying away from the scale until next month.
I also did this same lose weight method last year and back then I lost 2 kilos after a month. I wonder what's different now and why it is no longer working. I'm thinking that my metabolism has probably slowed down more because I am getting older. Do you think it's time to be more aggressive? Any diet tips guys?

Sweetie, forget the diet.
Why do you want to loose weight anyway?
Well, try to walk more oftrn.
Even when you are in the office.
After you had lunch or snacking, just walk around.
Go for walks after work if you can.
You need to fire up the old metabolism or get a bicyle.

Hi ddaguno
Do you mean that nt eating rice will help someone lose weight I doubt!
And yes, I dont thing a year later the metabolism slows down either unless you are ill or anything. I think it is okay to gain a kilo or two in one year

Like most Indians i too used to eat rice regularly but unlike you i did not have any weight problems. However 3 years back i completely stopped eating rice and only had "chapattis", that is wheat cakes made from wheat flour.I do not miss eating rice though. Your problem could also be due to having sugar.do you eat lots of sweet things? I have totally stopped having sugar but have replaced it with Sugar Free Natura which is made from sugar but has very little sugar in it and it tastes exactly like sugar. It come as small pills or in powder. It also has a very low calorie content and is specially good for diabetics and also for those who want to lose weight or keep it under control.then maybe you can start having rice but take only a small quantity and only once in a day.

hello!!
I also need a serious diet!!!
I tried the 3-days of eating nothing but 'apples' and water but still it did not work! I just crave for the things I need.
In your case, I think you are right, your metabolism slowed down like me (I'm also getting older.. hehe).. or maybe, you are not eating rice but you eat lots of carbo (from breads).
Try to take 10 minutes of jogging a day, I just started this routine last Tuesday. You need to release some sweat in order to increase metabolism, 10 mins is not bad, right?
Well, I still eat rice, but now, with minimum amount (nakakagutom talaga agad pag wala, haha). Stop using the weighing scale, it may add depression to you and it's not really good.
I also suggest that you complete an 8-hour sleep.. :D
Well, these stuffs are just collected after reading many forums in the net.
s possible.
After a month let's see if this one work...
I hope it will work (crossed fingers.. :D )

extreme diet measures don't really work for me. I tend to gain more weight than when I started. I think it's like the same concept as skipping meals. If you skip one you tend to over eat on the next.
apples and water only? grrr... that can drive anyone crazy. Man cannot survive by apple alone

Hi! I'm a Filipino like you and I have lost 60 pounds a year ago. I did not eat rice for six month and it has worked efficiently for me. However, not eating rice is basically not enough to lose weight. I would recommend you to drink more than 8 glasses of water per day to flush away the fats. Do some cardio exercises and take the stairs instead of the elevators. :-)You have to change some of your bad habits and live a healthy lifestyle.

Hi chuckzster. Very sound advice dear. but it's easier said than done. The jumping jacks I make now already give me super fast heart rate. and yes I do have very bad habits like lying down after a heavy meal. Trying to change though.
I'm not looking to lose 60 lbs like you. 10 would be enough.

You could do it. You just need the determination and inspiration to accomplish it. Just be patient with it, there will be weeks that that wouldn't have any significant results in the weighing scale. But you don't have to worry about that. Just continue pursuing your goals.
It is also advisable to eat 6 small meals per day to lose weight instantaneously.

Dieting is a big contribution to losing weight, but its just one part of the picture. You must incorporate routine exercise even at least 3x a day... eat healthier. Prefer veggies and fruits over chips and sweets
And dont get impatient... contrary to gaining weight, losing weight requires quite a lot of time, effort and sacrifices...

Hello ddaguno, No, the best thing to do now is to lessen the eat of rice at least one cup a day and drink more water. not to mention you can try c-lium fiber as well for a better bowel movement. maybe you're body is not use to it anymore. another thing is not to eat after six in the evening. that works for me as well. rice is an important meal to us, nver sacrificed it, my brother did the same thing but it didn't work too. have a nice day

Hi ddaguno, before I continue, i just want to tell you that I weigh 115lbs, stands 5ft 2in and I'm a diet freak.
I am still eating rice for I know rice is also fiber which is needed to for good digestion. But I only have half cup always for lunch and dinner.Don't keep on weighing yourself for you will only get frustrated if you don't get a favorable reading. It's not going to be overnight success.Crash diets are not good for your kidney and liver.
Try to eat always when it's time to, but in small proportions.
You diet, but indulge once a week.Go ahead, eat hamburger, ice cream, toblerone.Do this all in one day only. The rest of the week ,you diet.
By this you will enjoy what you are doing and not feel like its a never-ending struggle.

I love your suggestions dear and from your pics, I know you're slim so it would be wise to follow your example.
I also hate crash dieting. It's like I'm punishing myself for something. maybe after I achieve my weight goal I'll go back to rice but only half a cup like what you are having.

A colleague in the office has done the same thing. He skipped the rice, he would only eat chicken and fruit. In three weeks time, he was able to lose about 6 pounds. Of course he coupled this with jogging about 3 kilometers every other day, twice a week when he's really busy in the office.
I'm not sure if I could do a diet like that. I'm not hell bent on getting a hot figure because there's no way I'd turn down rice. Not when everyone in this household functions on rice.
Maybe you think it's not effective because you're thinking about it too much. Try not watching your weight for a while. Replace some meals with fruit instead so that it's not as hard avoiding rice. AFter all, fruit can really make you feel full, and also you don't normally have rice with fruit so it won't be as hard.

Its not the rice , chappathi or other foods counts. Its the calories you intake measures the diet. You may be skipping rice and intaking other sugar or starch foods more so that your intaking calories increase. Without exercise you cannot burn these calories. So even without eating rice your weight seems to be the same.

Being Puerto Rican, rice is also a daily part of our lives. Though these days I do not eat it as much as I have in many years as it is only my boyfriend and I at home. Yes rice is very heavy and lessening it should help you to loose weight.
Although it is true that you will need to add a little exercise to increase the metabolism. Which is what I have done and my metabolism now is way too high where I am not able to retain weight, as I am way too thin. I think that since you are not exercising that a little walking plus drinking some water will definitely help your metabolism. Don't give up and it will be okay to add smaller portions then you are use to of the rice.

You know, I also have a diet program without rice. I only ate bread in a month. I lost about 2kg. However, I never try this program one more time. I think that meal without rice is not enough to lose weight. You should check your meal. You maybe eat much another things more than you eat rice everyday.

Everyone's bodies changes over time, so something that worked for you before might not work a while later. Why can't things stay the same? haha.
I, personally, have been told that cutting rice from a diet should do you good. Many people recommend eating brown rice instead; it's healthier for you.
I suggest just maybe exercising a little more here and there? Just don't give up! Losing weight isn't something that happens in a set time.
