I just love it when I go shopping and all the people especially the cashiers are in a good mood because I have ran in to some rather rude ones before and not only that I have ran in to rude people when I am out shopping when I have asked them to help me locate something in the store they can get such an attitude and that ruins it for me and that happened to be a store I go to reguarly and I didn't say anything to anyone because he was an older man and has worked there for a long time but I just thought maybe he was having a bad day and let it go, what would you do?

We all have bad days, but I don´t see why we should mpose them on th rest. He has a job and part of it is to be nice. Age has nothing to do with it. I don´t have more rights to be rude because I´m old.
If I am in a very good mood, I can let it pass once. But not more than that. I will not be bullied.

hi marguicha.
i very muich agree with what you said, 'i don't have ,ore rights to be rude because i'm old'.
being old is no excuse to be rude or disrespectful. rather, shouldn't one have more manners and understanding since they are older. also, when one is having a bad day, it doesn't give them a license to treat others bad as well. they can go ahead and shove their bad day down their own throats! though i would imagine that very hard to do!
lol!!!

People in Customer Service should never be rude. It is because of their attitude and or bad service that will cause people to stop shopping at such stores. I have done a lot of customer service/secret shopping at stores as many owners want to make sure their employees are not rude to customers.
Sadly sometimes employees are having bad days and seem like they are taking out their bad mood on customers. I do not appreciate that if it happens at a store because it is not my fault that they are not happy somehow. When I am having a bad day, I don't take it out on other people. Usually I don't say much if it happens once but if it were to happen more then once I would point out to the worker that many people today are jobless and would like their job, therefore, they could quit as no one is forcing them there. This is of course in cases where it is apparent that employees hate their jobs.

hi hardworking gurl!
you raised good points. being in customer service myself, i know the importance of having a good attitude when dealing with clients. it is of utmost importance that we put our best foot forward when handling client concerns. irregardless of how bad our day maybe, we owe it to our customers to always put on a smile and offer our best when dealing with them.
now, not everyone can have a good day, that is understood. however, a bad day does not give us an excuse to take it out to our clients. neither is it a valid excuse to treat customers shabbily. totally unacceptable!

Yes it is sad sthat we the customers are sometimes treated with such disrespect and I hate thet especially when it is a store that I often go to and is my favorite store, but I always find myself returning hoping someone otrthe same person will be in a better mood!

Sadly an employee taking their bad day out on a customer will definitely cause a customer to refrain from shopping at the store. With so many competitive stores to choose from I would prefer to go to a friendly one.

hi ja.
the only reason those cashiers are smiling is because you decided to partake of your hard-earned cash and give it to them. lol!!!
just kidding ja!
about what had happened to you, if it had happened to me, i would have let it go and not mind it at all. i don't let other people, no matter how annoying they are to affect my mood. i'm just not cut out like that.
anyway, hope you see more happy cashiers!
cheers!!!

hi ja!
good for you then.
better to try to affect him with your good vibes than to let him affect you with his bad vibes.

From experience, it is the customers that dictate the humour/mood of the cashier. I find that it only takes one customer to be verbally rude, dismissive and downright ignorant to put me in a bad form.
Having said that, there are customers that put me in a good mood when I serve them so I suppose it works both ways...

Personally I definately agree with you. When you go shopping somewhere and you need help finding something, you definately want people who are curteous and will help you. Especially if it is a store where the people earn a wage plus commission. I know not everyone is going to have a GOOD day all the time, but many tend to forget when working with others to let everything go that is bothering them and to give their customers a good shopping experience so they will want to keep coming back for sure.

I agree! They should help us and want us to return! I go there all the time almost daily! He should have been just a little nicer to me. But since I have let it go he was an older man and I have not seen him there anymore at all.

There is one place that I have NEVER had a rude cashier! It is a local Chic Fil A restaurant here.I have looked to see if anything makes anyone upset. The staff is always smiling and gracious no mater what I say or ask of them.I have never seen them make a face that show's a,"Oh no I gotta do this...." look.I thought about that and have looked for it among that staff and never see it.

hi becky ann.
agree with you about this one. sometimes, it is best to give them the benefit of the doubt and smile at them. who knows? the small gesture of smiling might be the start of them having a better day.
cheers!!!

Hi ja hernandez rivas: Same happend to me. This makes part of the service. In my case I think I'd feel upset with the way this person has treated me and I probably won't go back to this place anymore. I understand that people may have a bad day but a person with these kind of responsabilities should control this and give a good service. A bad temperament won't help you when you are working with people.

I think they should always serve with a smile no matter what kind of day they have had too! I think that is part of their job because we the customers are always right! So I agree with you.

Cashiers are part of those frontliners of the company. Hence as such, they are supposed to put on at least a happy face to every customer.
Though sometimes, there are really rude ones. When that happens , you can complain about them to the store manager.
But in the case of an elder person, it's okay if they do it once. But if they will always do that, then maybe you can tell them that they are rude and next time, you will report his rudeness to the manager.

Unfortunately, I believe rudeness runs rapid in todays world. Finding someone who is polite is rare. I think it's sad. People will even run into you while their walking and never even say excuse me.
It's really hard to tell if this person is always rude or not. I would've done the exact thing you did. I would just ignore them. He could've been having a bad day. Or maybe he's just getting old and doesn't want to work there anymore but has no other alternative. Some people get stuck in a job they hate but can't afford to change their situation. Best Wishes!

Yes it is unfouranate that we the customers have to be treated rudely but I just let that one go because he has been there a long time and I just think he was having a bad day too and he has been nice before so I let it go and I know you are right it is hard to be stuck in a job you hate and even harder to find another job and start over.

I haven't really met any rude cashier or the helper in a store. They are pretty much always happy coz that's their job, to look happy and cheerful and help the customer! Really, you'll hardly find a cranky salesperson here. They are pretty much happy looking and soft spoken.

If the cashier is older than me, then like you maybe I would just let it pass once. But if I come across the same incident with the same person, then definitely I will say something. Not totally argue but tell him how I feel. I have argues with some cashiers before, especially the young ones. Some lady cashiers work like they are not in their right minds and they wear that nasty angry look in their face like you have stolen them a lunch. I definitely don't let that pass. As a customer, I deserve to be treated well especially when I have not done anything to her or him. And having experienced working in the field of retailing, I know how they should be working. All people have problems and it should not be brought to work. There was one time a cashier was in a bad mood at the grocery and she scans and throws the things to the bagger. It made her break some of the eggs, and it was really too much at that time. I was also not in the mood and I can still remember I complained her to her supervisor at that time.

Well I don't know. Maybe you are right, he might have a bad day, and you can let him go since he is old. We all have a bad day from time to time, and we hope that other people would understand us too. I hope that next time you visit that supermarket again, he will be better, and he would smile at you.

I have seen him there several times and most the time he os okay and sometimes he is in a bad mood and acts like he doesn't want to help anyone but I just ignore him because I get like that when I am having a bad day but I don't mean to take it out on people around me but sometimes I don't realize it but i do, and I don't mean it at all and feel terrible after that.
