what happened to friendster?

hi:) Friendster is the first social network that I've joined about almost 10 yrs ago, my classmates are my friends there, but since I joined facebook, I hardly open it since,now for long time now I didn't check yet my account, but perhaps after this I will and see what happened to my account there.

back then friendster was a social networking website, after a long talk they repositioned it into social gaming website focusing on games and music.. for those who love online games and music friendster is the choice but if your looking for "something" myLot would be the place!

There was an announcement made friendster that all accounts will be deactivated before they shift to a gaming website. Admittedly, there's just no way they can compete with Facebook. I checked the new site and there's nothing fancy there, the games are common and you can find them anywhere. I guess, there are game sites that offers more games. So unless, the owners can come up with something unique then it's just a matter of time before the site closes down for good.

The last time I logged in my account, it was already the new gaming site. And I really am one of those who really got mad because I wan't informed that they will be changing into a gaming site. All my friends where gone and the pictures I've saved there where mostly I don't have any other copies have been erased. But, what else can we do, it's already there! I haven't logged in since then and no plans of visiting it again.

Competition among social network is so stiff. I think friendster is really a good site. However, it seems to have been eroded out of its place in the market by facebook. With this, I found that there are so many people who do not even log on to their accounts anymore in friendster, specially since their friends are also more active at facebook. This is why friendster has to clean up the inactive accounts since these will occupy space. Then, it has to come up with newer features for it to survive in the market. This is why I think friendster is in desperation right now, and it might not be a good site for now. I just hope soon enough friendster will get back.

A lot of people are disappointed including me when the friendster was gone because all my memory pictures was there during my college days and everything that has to be remembered.I hope their are ways to get my pictures back and to keep those memories in the past.

Hi chiyosan! I have not visited Friendster for a long time! I have deleted my account there a long long time ago since I decided to stick with only one social networking site. And then I heard that Friendster got transformed into a gaming site. I guess that's because they were not popular anymore as a social networking site, that was the time Facebook was getting its limelight. A lot of my friends have long deleted their FS account before. I'm not sure if I still have friends who retained their account there. If ever there is, they are probably those who like to play online games.

I visited my friendster account a couple of months ago. I don't remember why. But yeah, they've done a million changes. I guess it's because they're trying to offer more stuff because people are all on Facebook now. Did you see the logo change? lol. But I didn't encounter any problems signing in again. Didn't notice if my friends decreased or not though. I really don't know what to say about the new friendster. On one hand, it's brave of them to still hang on and reposition themselves like that. On the other hand, the whole makeover thing looks weird and like they're trying too hard. Still, I had good memories with Friendster...

It was the saddest day of my life because friendster was one of my first social networking sites. maybe i should have been watching the news about them changing their format and deleting all the pictures. a lot is actually mad at them because they had their memories on friendster. as for me, i had friends there but now i don't know where they are at.

As far as I know, Friendster is trying to keep up with Facebook. They added games in there because they think Facebook's ratings boomed because of games, which I think, is the real reason why. If I was the owner of Freindster, though, I'd try a different approach. I'll try to find what Facebook lacks and implement it on Friendster.

I register back and try some games but I don't find it interesting at all. Need to wait for some times so I can see and play other games. Yes, they asked us to saved the friends list if I am not mistaken on July before they closed the site and relaunch it back as games and entertainment site.
