I recall in history class that the first brand of jeans as we know it were...Levis? Yes (I just checked), Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis made the first jeans in the late 1800's when gold mining was booming. They were sold as cheap and durable working pants to the miners who followed gold across the great west--they gained popularity because they were comfortable and hard to damage. The jeans and overalls were a hit with the working class, and when they were first sold, a brand new pair cost $1.25.
Levi and Strauss were the first to patent the jeans we know today, but denim pants date back to the 1600's.

I dont know the exact history of evolution of jeans. I just know firstly it was mainly used by the carpenter for the protection from getting wounds in their body while working. As jeans is rough and helps to prevent from getting damage. Hence it used mainly for industrial purposes. But it was became common as it began to popular between the people. They came different models in jean like skinny, boot cut etc
