Remember the 3 US hikers who were caught two years ago straying over the border into Iran? They were arrested for spying. One was released a year later on a $500,000 bail and returned to the US. The other two men have now been sentenced to 8 years in prison. My question is...why in the world would anyone from the US even WANT to go anywhere near that part of the world? It's too unstable!

Haven't you noticed yet? Americans are just plain stupid! They think that they can go anywhere and do anything and the world will treat them as dignitaries because they think they are better than everyone else. You would think that by now they would have learned differently...

Eight years is just a bit harsh. But really - who in their right mind would go near that place? Isn't also kind of close to where the more radical Muslims are quartered? It wreaks of danger and desert. I hate so say it, but what were they thinking!
Regardless, I think we should be doing a bit more to get them back. After some of the crap good ole' America has pulled in the Middle East there's no telling what may happen to those prisoners during the next eight years or so. Maybe we should initiate a travel ban for that area? To keep this from happening again? I suggest that because you just know there are going to be the idiots who read about this and suddenly get the urge to hiking over there themselves.

I think the key is the country, well, if the hikers strayed into France, Canada or British,It would be a opposite result. Iran is an unfriendly country to US.
