Walmart (at least the one here) has a pretty limited selection. If you are interested in getting the best for you money, then I suggest staples. I got a Toshiba Satellite for just over $400 there and it has worked like a dream. The only problem is it won't connect to the internet unless it is plugged in. It has been year and besides that I have never had any problems with it and I use it pretty heavily everyday. I also remember seeing a laptop at Staples there that was about $350.

I'm not even sure I can come up with $300. I'm on a tight budget.

That's pretty tight. I hate to say it, but I don't know if you can find a laptop for cheaper than $300. I suppose there are the ones from China but those have led in them and break after a week. Your best be it to check out refurbished computers online then. It might take some time, but you should be able to find a deal that can work for you.

Walmart..I don't know about that but I can help you in your quest of cheap Laptop.
I am from India and I think you might know that India is famous for finding different product at it best possible price..So my suggestion is that you come for a visit here with a list of thing you need and buy them from the markets here..!!

Unique suggestion! LOL. But if I'm looking for an inexpensive laptop, I surely can't afford a plane ticket to India! Wow.

Best place to look is on the internet. First decide what you actually require, (Laptop, Netbook, Desktop). Next is your minimum requirements, Memory, Hard disk, DVD player? Remember you can get plug in Hard Disk and DVD players later if required.
There are probably a lot of cheap deals on at the moment, (because of the recession), and there are some companies who buy up end of range models (still new), and can sell them off cheaper than their original list price. Being in the U.K. I can't tell which company to choose from.

I personally try not to buy from the store unless I need one right away, as in walk out with it that day. I find buying direct from the company you're interested in is the cheepest way to go. Most companies offer free shipping and customizable options. Meaning you only pay for the parts, software and extras you'll need. They also offer various felxable payment options so you either pay the entire balance same-day, or you pay over time. Poor as I am, I had to rent-to-own. Not doing that again... at least not for laptops at least. Just two years old, and this computer is literally falling apart on me.
However, Wal-mart is one of the best places... I've found if you need a laptop and can't wait for shipping. OOOO Staples will give you 100 of any computer purchse if you can show a student I.D. Um.... but that's all I can remember or think of at the moment.

Hello estherlou,
I think you should look online. I would recommend Amazon or Ebay. Amazon has used and new laptops and Ebay has new, used and refurbished laptops. Both sites have inexpensive laptops you can choose from. I bought a laptop from the staples store a few years ago and it cost me $551.00 I feel like I got ripped off, I used it for two years than sold it online and got $300.00 for it and with that money I bought me a laptop on Ebay for $125.00 it was refurbished but looked new and I've had it since then.
