School starts here today. We had to get up at 5:15 to get ready for the bus. My son is in a wheelchair, and takes time to get around. The bus gets here at approximately, 6:30. School does not start until 7:50. I have to give him about 15 minutes to wake up or it is not a pretty sight. I am hoping as the year goes, we can get in a better routine and he will help out a bit more. I do bet I take a small nap sometime today. Are your kids back to school yet?

Hello my friend, it's been a while. It's certainly an early start for you. Our school day starts at 9am, which certainly seems more decent. How does your son manage with those sort of hours - at school, I mean? It must be a long day for him.
My kids are grown but there is a primary school just down the road. We don't have a long summer break like you do. We have 4 terms with 1 - 2 weeks break in between...much easier on the parents I think.

My son was in bed by 7:30 tonight. He was a bear after he got home, but would not nap at all.

I would have to take a small nap too. It must be very difficult for you to get him ready but I expect you will get into a routine after a week or so. when my children were at Prep School, I had to be so organised with breakfast and packing lunches for the three boys. They used to wear a school uniform and living in a hot climate they needed a clean uniform daily. so I use to lay out a set for each child at night before and do all sorts of chores to get them out the house on time, It was difficult. and once that was done I got ready to go to my school where I taught as a teacher.
The beauty was that I left for school after them and got home before them each evening as their school was about a 45 minutes away and mine was 10 minutes away. Best of luck to you and to your son.

To be honest, I had help in the house so I came home to a clean house and dinner was cooked. Help was cheap then and I had someone for 5 days a week. I could not have managed without help in this heat. The lady was really very fond of us and stayed for 27 years until she retired. My children help her financially too. Now I have someone one day a week to give the house a deep clean.

Well, the kids here in this area just started back to school last week. It does make for a long day for the parents. I work with a few Moms and they are usually either quite tired when they come to work or try and find time for naps themselves. I hope your Son has a wonderful yr. and you can get into a routine that works the Best for all of you.

Wow that makes for a long day for everyone. Having to get on the bus an hour and a half before school even starts is just crazy!

If we lived a long way to school, that would be different. We are about a mile and a half away. He only picks up one other student on the way.

I enjoy the break, but not how early we have to get up. He ends up in bed between 7:30 and 8:00.

No school kids at my house, but school did start the 17th, I believe. My grandkids in Minnesota will not start until Aug. 31. They continue in school up into June.

I have no kids, but hope to one day. I'm not looking forward to those early school mornings, as I'm in a wheelchair as well as not a morning person. We'll have to hire good, happy morning personal care assistants to get through those mornings.

My disabled son is 4 years old and he is also in a wheelchair. He has got spina bifida and hydrocephalus. He will begin primary school in just over one weeks time. We live within walking distance of his new school. I will push his wheelchair there and back quite easily. We will get to school at 08.15 and leave from school at 15.15. At first he will go to school part time and come home for lunch. My 2 year old daughter goes to a childminder twice a week. My 16 year old son gets his exam results tomorrow so it is an exciting time for my family this week. He will be going off to a further education college for two years. It is a bus ride away.

No, we dont go back until after labor day... it is a law here in Michigan that they set back a couple years ago that all public schools start the same day... the day after labor day.
Good luck with your school year and getting back into routine...I am not looking forward to that at all.
Our schools start later though so I have that advantage as well, we dont start until almost 9 am. I am waiting on the new school packet that will tell me what teacher and room my son will be in this year, he cant wait to find out. LOL
Happy Mylotting.

My daughter started back to school on the 12th of August and so far she's been doing pretty good about her morning routine. She has to get up and dressed and to the bus stop by 7:45 in the morning. Then she gets home from school at about 3:40 in the afternoon. The only problem that we've been having so far this year is the fact that school is still not challenging to her and for that reason she really doesn't want to go to school.
